Not to be smug or cynical or whatever, but Iβm low key happy to see more people shifting their interest from huge furry cons to other things. Cons have felt like a manic number-go-up race to me for a while.
My best con memories are from cons where attendance is measured in hundreds, not thousands.
I remember attending the last FAU in 2019 at the Hyatt Regency Dulles in Herndon, Virginia, and having such a wonderful, memorable time. There were probably only about 600 attendees, which made the experience even more special. I have genuinely fond memories connected to smaller conventions 100%
A thank you to everyone. youtu.be/NS8WguWG4P8

Ah- Skinner with his crazy explanations The superintendent's gonna need his medication When he hears Skinner's lame exaggerations There'll be trouble in town tonight Seymour! Superintendent, I was just- uh, just stretching my calves on the windowsill. Isometric exercise. Care to join me? Why is there smoke coming out of your oven, Seymour? Uh- Oh. That isn't smoke. A scene at a London main-line station (King's Cross). A platform and passengers on the left, a stopped diesel loco at the head of a train, and a man working on the tracks, protected by warning flags in front of the loco. A large domed roof above with scaffolding on part of it. Another train on the right hand side.

Oh, I could scream about this for HOURS.
But suffice to say: This is what happens when large studios don't want to fund original projects, anymore.
They make Scooby-Doo for the 16th time, and the hot young talents goes off, runs a Kickstarter/gets backed by Glitch, and succeeds without them.
A friend, to me, is someone who bothers to poke now & then, wants to talk, hang out. They seek to find interests with you, yet understand if you got a lot going on in the moment. But it shouldn't be that they forget about you due to not in the "inner circle" of friends you're currently focused on
Trying my E-ink tablet ending up drawing this big burr. Love the texture.
There's a silly easter egg in SteamOS where the cursor gets bigger the longer you shake it.
I never knew about that until someone told me to give it a try today.
