Our new opinion piece in @pnas.org defends that the so-called invasivorism is not an effective management strategy. In most cases, it is not even a strategy

if your continued academic freedom depends on what material you decide to teach or research, you don’t have academic freedom

if your continued role in university governance depends on how you react to a proposal, you don’t have a role in university governance

“prevention” can be a form of mourning

Idaho Banned The Pride Flag. So Boise Wrapped the Flagpoles Themselves In Pride Colors. As public acknowledgements of LGBTQ life come under attack, local governments and citizen activists alike are fighting back in bold and creative ways.

1. Idaho banned the pride flag on government property. So Boise made the pride flag their official city flag, which allowed them to fly it.

Then Idaho banned new city flags.

So in response, Boise has now wrapped the poles themselves in rainbows!

Idaho governor signs law making transgender bathroom use a felony Gov. Brad Little signed the measure on Transgender Day of Visibility as advocates rallied outside the statehouse.

And in horrifying news, Idaho's governor has signed the felony bathroom ban, with 5 year penalties for second offense bathroom usage, into law.

This is the most significant criminalization of trans people to date.

On trans day of visibility no less.

It will require a new "Do not travel" warning.

It's Trans Day of Visibility today. If you're trans and are raising money for something (I don't care what it is), reply to this thread and I will boost you.

If you are a cis person, take a look and find someone to support if you can.

Everyone give this a share after.

I’m Supposed to be Visible Today — But Why? Every year I wonder if visibility and joy are the same thing. And every year I am more and more convinced that the answer is no.

It's Trans Day of Visibility and I wrote about how visibility without protection is a trap, and it often seems like the loudest calls for us to be visible are coming from those who have done nothing to protect us.

I was planning to co-chair an EDI session and give a talk at SCAS-IAGLR in Winnipeg in May.

I applied for funding but don't think I was successful since early registration ends soon and I haven't heard back. 🫠

So, on the off chance a wealthy benefactor is reading this -

How To Ban Conversion Therapy
How To Ban Conversion Therapy YouTube video by Philosophy Tube

The latest episode of Philosophy Tube is about conversion therapy, why it’s still legal in the UK, and the ways the British government is implicated in it making it NHS policy.
Proud to expose this stuff ✊

Three panel comic. Panel 1: a man in a tie looks miserable, head in hands, while sitting at a bus stop in the city. He’s thinking, “can’t believe I have work today…” Panel 2: he looks up at the city to find it ablaze, actively being destroyed by the Cloverfield monster/kaiju. Panel 3: the man looks off to the side and makes a mildly surprised expression with a cute subtle smile.

Scientists Behind the "Social Contagion" Myth Are Recruiting Trans Young People For Study, Community Leaders Warn The project is called AYAGDOS—brought to you by the same names behind “Rapid Onset Gender Dysphoria” pseudoscience.

1. The scientists behind the infamous ROGD/Social Contagion myth have released a new study called AYAGDOS, and are recruiting unsuspecting trans youth.

They're operating under Northwestern.

Community leaders need help spreading the word to avoid the study.

There is nowhere to flee. There is no idyllic pasture to make a cabin in and homestead alone that will not burn down. There is no island that will not be inundated by rising seas. All we have is one another and our power if we decide to work together instead of splitting apart.

Millions of Americans can now claim Canadian citizenship by descent. But they have to prove it | CBC News Amid rising tensions in the United States and increased global volatility, many Americans are looking to Canada — and their roots — for a possible way out following recent changes to Canada’s citizens...

For Americans fortunate enough to be physically able to leave the US and who wish to do so, if you have a Canadian ancestor you may now be able to obtain Canadian Citizenship.

“There's no limit on how many generations you can go back, as long as you can prove it”

This has been part of the trans-kids moral panic for years, gay adults going "If I grew up now, they'd convince me I'm trans."

If your movement had real evidence, you wouldn't be pointing to alternative-universe hypotheticals! Child psychologists know the difference between gay kids and trans kids

Many Americans hold contradictory opinions on the same policies Our new poll finds question wording can swing opinion by 20+ points on immigration, the budget, and transgender rights. That's a problem for people who use polls to tell politicians what voters want.

New polling on strong “framing effect” of trans issues.

Should minors be able to get GAC?
Opposed 57-28% net -29%
Should minors be be able to get doctor-recommended GAC after diagnosis.
Supported 44-28%, net +16%

That's a 45% swing.

So when you apply for ODSP they ask for your "sex at birth" (wtaf). When I replied "my birth certificate says X", they told me I needed to pick either M or F. I told them to flip a coin as either is incorrect.

Wild idea, but I think the ON government should have to accept ON birth certificates.

9. As a result of this extreme anti-transgender law, the state of Kansas has seen its status deteriorate to a "Do Not Travel" warning in the EITM Trans Risk Map. Transgender people should exercise extreme caution when traveling through the state.

I did read the law and project this, but as it's coming to pass I find myself still capable of being shocked at how far the country I grew up in has fallen.

It is not a free country if a person can drive to work and be arrested for being transgender and having once legally changed their documents.

And the cares that hung around me through the week
Seem to vanish like a gambler's lucky streak
When my dogs are out here sleeping cheek to cheek🎶

Have to share this on Blue Sky so I hit all the platforms.

No better way to celebrate #NISAW2026 than knowing that boaters who are aware of Stop Aquatic Hitchhikers and Clean Drain Dry are more likely to perform AIS prevention actions.

Anti-Trans Op-Ed & News Story Bingo™ I’m old. Old enough to remember the 1980s and 1990s and early 2000s, when mainstream media largely ignored trans people.

"how the fuck am I supposed to respond to this morning’s latest high-profile op-ed: It’s Pamela Paul, in the New York Times, with the JK Rowling. It’s like the game of Clue: just a rotating mix of the same writers & media outlets & anti-trans talking points." juliaserano.medium.com/anti-trans-o...
