"The transatlantic slave trade ... disrupted societies, extracted human and economic value on an unprecedented scale, and left enduring legacies that continue to influence patterns of development, opportunity and vulnerability across the world. Recognising this history fully is essential."
And what, for example, are the postcolonial scholars there meant to do now
It’s the last week to see Emergency Exits at the Imperial War Museum, which explores decolonisation in Kenya, Cyprus and Malaya and which I was lucky enough to consult on as a part of a team of imperial historians. Go and see it if you can — it’s really great!

God what a travesty. Such a terrible waste. Ridiculous policy of reassessing refugees. Just let people live in Britain!
This is a basic and crucial point for any discussion of LLMs’ use in teaching research or writing. Whether it can ape us, fool us, or get facts right or wrong is, in the end, irrelevant. The LLM is not the thinker we are trying to encourage; the LLM is not the writer that we are trying to improve.
a must attend for any ECRs who work on global history (broadly conceived). My first article was published with JGH & I had fantastic editorial support to guide me through the process - far from a guarantee in academic publishing sadly. They are setting the standard so make the most of this session!
Thanks so much for participating on our military humanitarianism roundtable a couple of years ago! :)
