The reason we have rules of engagement isn’t to keep warfighters from killing our enemies.
It’s to keep them from killing a farmer with a shovel bc they thought it was a rifle and didn’t bother to wait to check.
Or a family in a car bc the driver looked nervous.
Or a boat full of fishermen.
In just two days the Trump administration has rhetorically expanded their bogeyman term from ‘antifa’ to ‘antifa-aligned.’
They are not hiding their goal of equating protest with terrorism.
Most of the balancing, middle-ground people are going to pass over those discussions entirely, leaving the participants with an inaccurate impression of everyone being either for or against them.
Anyone who goes out looking for a fight is going to find it, but I don't think they're actually getting an accurate representation of the real world outside of social media.
Observation: online interactions are becoming more and more polarizing. We either interact with people who vehemently agree with us or people who vehemently disagree with us.

Legitimate question. How do we balance the need for mental health with the need to stay informed? The desire to let it all burn with the desire to build it back up? The urge to stop caring with the need for people who actually do care? It's exhausting.
What it was is a U-visa application, one of an incredibly few options that an undocumented person has to get a green card. This stack of paper represents hope. It's beautiful and encouraging to get to be part of that.
The world feels like it's falling apart half the time and despair gets me all too frequently.
But today I met with a client for final signatures on this application we've been working on for over 18 months. It felt like I was selling her a house with so many signatures!

I remember a time, not too long ago, when American foreign policy was a bipartisan matter, and where we rallied around our leaders rather than try to tear them down in time of crisis. We need to return to that era so that we can be the United States of America to the rest of the world.
