The librarian suggested watching a film adaptation!

This does explain why it took 7 months to arrive from the time I ordered it. A few people ahead of me in the queue were also wrestling with its 1,460 pages... 😬
A book with a red spine and a front cover of some jewels, reading The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas. The picture doesn't quite convey the heft of the 1400 page story.
Well, this has arrived from the library. I have three weeks to read it plus the four other books I have from the library. Not sure how many times I can renew...
A dog stands on a table, posing next a basted peak lapel sport coat. The jacket is being displayed on a dress form.
A dog sitting on the floor, posting next to a basted blue tweed sport coat with notch lapels. The jacket is being displayed on a dress form.
A dog sitting on the floor, posing in front of a wall where three tailored jackets are hanging.
A dog poses on a table. He's surrounded by a tailor's measuring tape.
Every time this tailor posts a photo of their workspace, it looks like their dog is a tailor and he's showing off the garments he made.

Ah, you're not alone. It's nice but I'm amazed by the gushing hype.
A) we don't own anything now
B) the stuff we don't own doesn't work and can be taken away at a moments notice
BTW you should all watch this it's fucking delightful. Really fun but for some reason people don't talk about it like they do about the chicken ones. It's hilarious, it has a spectacular version of a deranged Queen Victoria, Brendan Gleeson as a Dublin pirate, and Hugh Grant shoulda got an Oscar
A book jacket Upon A White Horse by Peter Ross with a lovely illustration of chalk hills.
The printed acknowledgements reading Katy Soar, University of Winchester.
Not only does my pre-order of @peteralanross.bsky.social's new book arrive but I spot m'pal @kjsoar.bsky.social in the acknowledgements... 🙂🤩
Cannot even fathom Much Ado v Wonder Boys as I love them both. But have voted for the others. Some great match ups here!
This is excellent. I may start something similar to yell at the daffodil shredders in my local park. Who's with me?
Ah Shirley Maclaine is beautiful in that film. I watched it years ago and it's really very affecting.
This looks lovely! I'd like to try this sort of thing.
It's the women's six nations, but it *shouldn't* be as rowdy as the chaps. No guarantees obvs.
Ah, it's brilliant.
Welkin me up!
They genuinely do have huge gaps between the doors and the cubicle wall so you can see inside. When asked about this, a lot of US folk (who are usually prudish in my experience) say it's in case anyone falls in a cubicle. But it's just weird.
We didn't deserve this day.
In a couple of weeks the girl and I are going to a P&P marathon, all 6 episodes in a cinema in Birmingham with afternoon tea and crafts. Cannot wait.
I know the tweet is Al generated when they use " ," before and.
“I will NOT sacrifice the Oxford comma. We've made too many compromises already; too many retreats. They assimilate the em dash and we fall back. They capture ‘not just X but y’ and we fall back. Not again. The line must be drawn here! This far, no further!”
And PLEASE can we get it right this time and use “staycation” to mean “holidaying at home”, not “holidaying in Britain”. We have a term for the latter, which is “holidaying in Britain”.
“Holibobs”, wherever they are taken, remains a capital offence.
Kind of feel that if you live somewhere that people would consider for a holiday home, the chances are you're already in dream holiday territory. If anyone fancies a week in my 2-bed terrace in inner city Nottingham...
Dear god. For years I used to wake my husband up by having exactly that happen in my nightmares. I would be patting the bed down trying to find them and he'd have to convince me I was dreaming. Not sure now how I'd manage if it happened in real life.
Oh great! I can visit the Nottingham show. Lovely news - you must be so pleased. 🩷
March reading round up is live.

I guess it's kind of like going to Niagara Falls: the view is terrific for about 10 minutes and then you lose interest. But by all means diss people who don't want to spend time with a load of grey rock where you can't even sit down.
#HumanMade is handwritten in pen on a piece of paper. A yellow pen lies on the paper.
It’s April 1st which traditionally means we play amusing pranks on one another, but I’ve decided to subvert that by doing something that isn’t a joke or a trick. Which is this:
If I need to concentrate for work I often put on background coffee shop noises on YouTube. I find silence oppressive. Don't think a piano would work for me though.
This is exactly why I've not seen it. I knew I'd be spooked. I'm hopeless with scary movies.
Oh it's awful. Mr B and I watched it a couple of years back. I genuinely don't understand the hype.
