And tonight Iβll do my first user feedback session live on stream! π ~8pm UTC
Finally streaming again!
Vibe coding my Rails travel map app, but with more intentionality and with a greater focus on data modeling to create a more accurate picture of how a person experiences places they've traveled to. π

HNY!
Copilot with opus 4.5!
Thing is Iβm not an engineer so I need to find a better way to structure it where I guess itβs walking me through the process and more AI-assisted coding rather than just me promptingβ¦
Need to think about how to structure it lol.
Okay I think I am kind of bored of vibe codingβ¦
Just prompting really isnβt that interesting.
Need to think of ways to mix it up and maybe do more of it manually? Idk. I also donβt feel like Iβm learning anything. π€·ββοΈ
Finished already but made a few updates ~
β¨ added country ratings
β¨ map toggle to view heat by frequency of visits v. rating
β¨ added country notes
Anyway Iβll come back to this next year. π
Going live to keep vibe coding my Rails travel map app!
Going to attempt to undo all of the changes I made Saturday and focus on new features like travel notes and preferences (that can later be used for AI recommendations?)
Hang out! π

A cute, glowing ruby gem with a smiling face, rendered in a pink-purple neon style on a vibrant background. It represents the Ruby language with a Charm-inspired, glamorous CLI aesthetic.
Alongside the Ruby 4.0 release last week, I published charm-ruby over Christmas, bringing @charm.land's excellent terminal UI libraries to Ruby.
A full TUI framework, reusable components, styled output, forms, markdown rendering, spinners, charts, and a lot more!
Demos below β¬οΈ
Wrapped after 2 hours with no actual progress, but it's all a learning experience I guess. π π Humbling.
Going live again for a bit, working on some UX stuff and a new feature that I was too tired for last night.
Hang out while I vibe code my Rails travel map app! youtube.com/live/niLrt8z...
Create your own travel heat map ~ travel-heatmap.onrender.com
Little demo of my Rails travel map app so farβ¦ π
Vibe coded in ~8 hours while streaming.
All built in my browser with @github.com Codespaces, Copilot, using various models (mostly Claude Sonnet 4.5).
Itβs my first app! Lots more to do. But what do you think?
Okaayy super tired tonight so already wrapped up BUT got a few things done:
- added "home country" selector
- added field for "name" to personalize the shared map
- made the page more responsive on mobile
Will try to stream again this weekend if and when I'm a little more alive.
Going live now vibe coding my Rails travel app!
Will focus on UX improvements maybe, or new features? You tell me!
Join and hang out. βΊοΈ youtube.com/live/G-TY69D...

Gorgeous! Iβm in Lisbon for a bit β feel free to come by Portugal if you want some company!!
What a lovely area β€οΈ sending love π«Ά
