Darwin-themed mural, Inman Park, Atlanta

Fun news to share: I'll be heading to Atlanta in the new year to start my lab at the School of Biological Sciences at Georgia Tech! My group will study the ecological, genetic, and genomic processes that promote the origin of new species and prevent their collapse, thereby building biodiversity.

Happy to share some new work with @samurscicop.bsky.social and Daniel Matute on the history of Aedes aegypti in the Americas and what it means for genomic diversity and the efficacy of selection 🦟

Phased assembly of neo-sex chromosomes reveals extensive Y degeneration and rapid genome evolution i... bioRxiv - the preprint server for biology, operated by Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory, a research and educational institution

New preprint led by Zoë Humphries & I! We characterized rapid genome evolution and extensive degeneration in young Y chromosomes that arose in a repetitive region of low recombination. Taking a deep-dive into this phased assembly with Zoë and Stephen (not on this site yet) was super fun!

I too am recruiting graduate students, postdocs, and a lab technician for my group at UChicago, starting fall 2024! We will be doing exciting work to uncover the limits of plant adaptation in changing environments.

Fantastic PhD/postdoc opportunity to work with @jmkreiner.bsky.social at University Chicago -- from the field to the lab and back! Highly recommended!
