I'd like to think that the way forward is to cross train DPR and PRs into one role

Yeah it's a practicality thing for sure. I try and use PR vs Digital PR so PR is the default and Digital is the append.

I hope those questions go away soon though haha (one day)

@ Digital PR community. I do think 'traditional' can have 'old' connotations (incorrectly) so I personally avoid it.
