Doctors were always trained to stay out of politics but when the government is dismantling the foundations of health care things need to change. Where are our medical organizations? AAP? AMA? AAFP? Silent.

Those stories are very powerful and visceral. I see a lot of families who have been scared off by stories like these.

I deal with this on the ground everyday. There are 2 types of anti vaxers. Cult like, brain washed with no hope and scared and anxious parents who have been overwhelmed by mis information. I spend my time with the latter group with some success if i acknowledge their fears and slowly re educate.

I have been a pediatrician for over 25 years and work in a large busy practice. We have had ZERO kids hospitalized after an MMR vaccine and ZERO deaths. Let’s compare that to a 4 week measles outbreak. 18 hospitalized and very sadly 1 death. Vaccines are safe and save lives.

No Amazon. No Walmart. No Target. No Disney. No Google. No Apple. No Visa or Mastercard. And especially no Facebook or Twitter. Buy essentials such as medicine, food, and emergency supplies, of course, but make those purchases at small, local businesses and use cash. The purpose of today’s economic blackout is to send a clear message: We have the power.
