It wont be enforced effectively, thats a guarentee. these people are too stupid to pass a law that actually works.
not feeling very brave at the moment, but thank you
sigh of relief that they got home safe.
I find this one hard to follow, i really do
People need to keep up the pressure, christ almighty.
yep, infinitely gayer.
this is stupid.
thats a funny way to say 'we were trying to punish our political enemies'
America has a lot to do to refresh its institutions. this is a long hall battle and it starts at the bottom. there will need to be a lot of resistance work.
settle in, I'm afraid pushing back fascism will be the new normal for a long while time to come.
everything about Trump is obscene
Be ready for mass suicides.
welp its over now. waiting for the excuses to start.
he basically is trump from what i recall XD
to make a difference.
i oscilate on weather i think thats reasonable scientifically or not. i want to build experiments to test these things, but the opportunity to do so has been limited in my life so far (for lots of fun trauma related reasons)
hopefully going back into school in my thirties isnt too late -
im a bit more optimistic, but it's certainly not going to be sam altman who actually gets us there
the only way to get creative imagination is to have a mind. we're working on the engineering of that but - shockingly - it's hard to do (also the very structure of corporations and the contradictory goal of making a slave with a free mind actualy slows us down from acheiving the goal).
Picture of a burning hillside where a warehouse used to be A California distribution warehouse for the consumer products of giant Kimberly-Clark burned to the ground on Tuesday and an employee has been taken into custody under suspicion of arson. The sixth alarm fire required 175 firefighters to contain. A video circulating online, reportedly taken by the agreed worker shows them setting fire to several pallets of toilet paper while calmly repeating "all you had to do was pay us enough to live."
"All you had to do was pay us enough to live"
Forces of capitalism, these are the Canaries in your coal mine.
Pay attention to them.
Might be important.
Just might be.

not a believer but it would be the worst of cosmic ironies.
How dare you, Beta Ray Bill is much hotter than Billy Ray ever was.
this is a fascist power tactic: make everyone think you are always 'secretly' on their side. Putin's political handlers did it as well; supporting democratic ideas one day, supporting nazi's the next.
what we can do which most life cannot is seek ways around it. organise and re-organise to find peaceful ways out of situations that chimps or ants or lions would solve with brutality.
But that requires that we think, and thinking is hard, even for a species specialised in it.
funnily enough i disagree on this point: nature sucks. war isnt human; organised groups of animals or eusocial insects will destroy each other to control territory and resources too. nature 'red in tooth and claw' is quite violent without us.
nature is rife with violence beyond humans: ant colonies will tear each other apart over resources, chimp troups will attack each other etc. Humans are unique in that we can actually do better by thinking.
but that requires that we actually try to think.
i think its a bit more complicated. Imperialism stems first from fear: securing yourself above all. The first actual wars seem to have been the results of raiding, when one tribe lacked resources another had and sought to secure its survival by taking somebody elses stores.
the Mayans, Mongols, Aztects, Chinese, Songhai... all of them were conquering states at various points. It's always been easier to get your 'self defence' in first; the Europeans were just lucky that they got ahold of guns before anyone else did.
totally, but it is worth going further; Empires throughout history have usually been based on taking somebody elses lands and territories for yourself. Rome conquered much of its neighbors, only stopping when it hit another large state to its east and the limits of geography to the west.
sadly being a thief has often been the quickest way to power.
