With contemporary interventions designed to make it more usable and friendly. The design adds elevated Sculpture gardens around the perimeter, larger pedestrian spaces and an oval of light emulating the form of Grand Army Plaza in the sky creating a visible landmark for Brooklyn.

Grand Army Plaza Brooklyn, a competition entry I did in 2008. A masterplan project enhancing but not detracting away from the original design by Frederick Law Olmsted and Calvert Vaux.

All this talk of improving grand army plaza in Brooklyn / New York by @mayor.nyc.gov reminds me of a competition I entered in 2008 doing exactly the same thing. #newyork
