The mussel closed the lake to power boats, which made it wonderful for kayaks, but the lack of paying customers was a burden the campground couldn’t overcome. 😢

I’ve fallen in love (many times) with silver Labs! Although I’ve also fallen in love with chocolates, yellows, blacks and even a nearly white Lab.

I’ve often backpacked the Caribou Wilderness and Emerald Lake was an obligatory stop. The water was so gin clear the trout looked like they were floating in air.
Unfortunately, the Caribou Wilderness took a tremendous hit from the 2021 Dixie and Emerald Lake is no longer what it was.

Well, we got a little snow. California’s had an awful ski season, not to mention the impending drought and a wicked wildfire season. Much of the snow melted quickly, but every little bit helps.
