I'm not so sure I haven't seen anything like it. I've had some online meetings that felt like they went for 89 minutes where I didn't much care what was happening on the screen and only 4% of the audience approved of what was happening. What I wouldn't have given for an alien invasion...

On a sidenote, my son - who's a huge fan of WotW in all forms - wants to watch the Amazon infomercial version. I've heard how bad it is, however, so I don't want to watch it. I keep telling him he can watch it by himself but he insists that he wants to watch it with me. ๐ฌ
What do I do?
Sorry Nicole but I've got to side with Peter about the War of the Worlds. Spielberg's version is a very rare exception against a lot of other versions, including arguably one of the best - if not the best - and most famous classic sci-fi movies.
Yeah, but what about Wonder Dog?... ๐ฅบ
Totally deliberate. In addition to what Peter said about the coffee already being at an angle, they're not even walking towards each other. Henry has to hurry to catch up to Beechcroft and then turn into him. Henry does everything but wind up the pitch before throwing it at him.
Rewrite the cartoon theme song.

@danpgwatters.bsky.social With all the positive buzz about Dark Patterns, will there be more Batman from you and @cleanlined.bsky.social ?
Thanks again for one of the best Batman runs in some time!
It makes me feel a lot better about this book that you're at the controls, Dan. Not trying to blow smoke up your tailpipe, just that you've earned that level of trust.
Now if you'll excuse me, imma go blast the MASK theme on repeat. It might just be the best '80s cartoon theme.
Best Batman run in some time. The writing gets Batman right, and showcases his long neglected detective side. The art is a PhD in graphic storytelling.
If you don't have the individual issues - and maybe even if you do ๐ - then this should be on your LCS shopping list.
<<< PS: Batman is best when the trauma of his past provides him with a foundation of compassion, rather than making him an emotionally dysfunctional jerk.
That might actually be a PSA in addition to being a PS.
<<< Are all swing sets in the DC animated multiverse placed under pleasant wooded canopies just to provide a location for female characters in heartbreakingly unfair situations to have a conversation with a sympathetic and supportive older male character?

Rewatching 'Private Security', one of my favorite episodes of #YoungJustice, and I just noticed that the setting for Zatanna and Zatara's conversation on the swings has a similar vibe to a certain other tragic conversation on swings in a different animated DC series.

Speaking of the '66 Batman, Cliff Robertson guest-starred as a Bat-villain named Shame, who was a parody of the titular western movie character Shane. Apparently Cliff claimed they let him pick his own costume on that show too, so that seems to have been an odd predilection for him.
Kind of odd to see John Astin in a non-exuberant performance. His two roles that I'm most familiar with are Gomez Addams, of course, and he filled in once for Frank Gorshin as the Riddler on the '66 Batman. In the latter he was pretty much Gomez in a green leotard, so he was exuberant in both roles.
Are you sure it was a meteor?...
Great book! I particularly enjoyed when the Scarecrow met Judge Death, both when he boos Judge Death and the page depicting what scares Judge Death after Scarecrow gives him a shot of fear gas.
We're in the season known commonly as 'confuse the bulbs'.
Peter, I know from experience that fondant is a fickle medium. I'm guessing Nicole is right and that the horse is a toy.
Amarillo Slim, Minnesota Fats - what's the deal with those old nicknames that were Location + Body Type? Should we bring them back? What say you, Oakland Medium-Build and Berkeley Are-you-kidding-I'm-not-dumb-enough-to-comment-on-a-woman's-weight-what-you-think-I-want-to-sleep-on-the-couch-AGAIN?
This got me thinking what other TZ-themed Pez dispensers should there be. One that popped into mind was the devil head on the napkin dispenser in Nick of Time. I think, however, that I would feel a little uneasy taking things that popped out from under that thing. It'd be too much like the episode.
Tomasi really knew how to write Batman as a parent who was flawed but not a complete jerk nor emotionally incompetent. It's a balance that provides compelling character dynamics while not making Batman an unpleasant character, and it's unfortunately all too rare in Batman comics.
Friendly PSA that this Wednesday sees the release of the third volume of the collected Batman and Robin by Peter J. Tomasi and Patrick Gleason. A bonus in this volume is that you also get art by Doug Mahnke and Andy Kubert. One of the best Batman series in recent years.
@cybertronicspree.bsky.social Fo you have any special events or performances planned for The Transformers The Movie Apology Tour?
...The doctor repeating it might seem excessive, but it makes clear his lack of care for her. That he understands her plight yet still has little sympathy makes him more cruel than if he were ignorant of it.
Also, "bubble-headed booby" was the doc's classic zinger for the robot in Lost in Space.
I get your critique of the repetitiveness of this episode but I think there's a purpose to it. I think it helps to repeat the dream because it makes her distress palpable. Also, the final "room for one more" wouldn't hit as hard if you don't hear it a couple of times earlier.

@straczynski.bsky.social today is Groundhog Day. They always talk about the groundhog seeing "his" shadow. Does the groundhog have a Shadow the way Morden had Shadows? If so, is that why the little bugger keeps predicting more winter?
Hey western Michigan, want to do something tonight other than reinact the beginning of The Empire Strikes Back in the ice and snow? Then join us for a comic book trivia night! Special guest Vince Locke will sign books and show some art from Swamp Thing 1989 1. At the Comic Signal in Grand Rapids.
