A quick rummage in Dad’s garage came up with these lovely 1930s razor blade packets ( blades still inside but very rusty) - why they were there is a mystery though!

‘Blake’s 7’ Reboot In The Works From ‘The Last Of Us’ Director Peter Hoar & ‘A Good Girl’s Guide To Murder’ Exec Matthew Bouch A 'Blake's 7' reboot is coming from 'The Last Of Us' director Peter Hoar and Matthew Bouch and their Multitude Productions indie.

A new Blakes 7 is in the works, could be interesting. Currently watching the series via the new Blu-ray releases, there are some very dark themes that would work great in a reboot. deadline.com/2026/01/blak...

Had a great time last night at BFIs screening of the pilot episode of Twin Peaks on 35mm. Looked great on the big screen and still one of the best ever tv pilots. Great intro as well with some scans from Radio times when it aired, love this character chart.

Finally getting around to building this model kit from a Japan trip 3 years ago. Been a while since I’ve done a traditional glue and paint kit rather than snap build but relatively pleased with it.

For any Titanic nerds out there, my colleagues in the UCL Marine safety group have just published an astonishingly detailed analysis and supercomputer simulation of how Titanic sank, linked to witness statements & the best available evidence. Full paper here:

Semi succesful BFI LFF ticket haul today. Couldn't get the big screenings I had earmarked but I can catch them at a later date. More pleased I secured two smaller interesting films that I would otherwise struggle to see theatrically.

Brilliant video by the BFI exploring the original film print of Star Wars. Maybe one day will get to see it on the big screen (didn't succeed in the ballot for this screening)

On the anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic, we thought we'd answer a question that's often asked,

"If they raised the Mary Rose, why not raise the Titanic?"

Allow our scaled diagram to explain...

Had a very nice tour of St Mary’s Guildhall in Coventry today, a rare survivor of Coventrys medieval past. The included mulled wine went down very well!

Photograph of a page from The Sunday Times Magazine, 10/11/2024, with a colourised photo reproduced in a 'This week in 1918' feature.
The reproduced photo shows female nurses in uniform standing at the railings of The London Hospital in Whitechapel on Armistice Day 1918 waving flags and celebrating. They are wearing floor length dresses with aprons and caps, and the dresses have been colourised light blue. In fact, probationer and staff nurses at the hospital at this date wore a lilac coloured dress.

Nooo! Stop colourising archive photos if you dont have actual evidence of original colours! (Or just stop altogether, actually...)
Sent this today - original not from our collections, but definitely London Hospital nurses. Uniforms colourised light blue, not the purple they would actually be wearing

RIP James Earl Jones 😭😭😭

The voice of Darth Vader, from 1977 to The Rise of Skywalker, is gone. The narrator of Judge Dredd (1995) was also in Dr. Strangelove, SG-1, Conan, The Great White Hope, The Lion King, The Hunt for Red October, and so many classics.

He was 93.

Currently in New York for a significant Birthday and having a great time - spent yesterday going round the USS Intrepid, blown away by the scale/size of the ship. Plus seeing a craft that has been in space called the Enterprise will always be thrilling to a sci geek like me.
