They aren't lies, necessarily. Autistic people who won't work or pay taxes or play baseball or go to college or live independently DO exist. But you don't need to do any of those things to have a life of value.

I also have a degree and certification in students with disabilities. I'm well versed on learning disabilities and autism.

I'm also autistic. My grandson is non verbal and extremely high needs. The kinds of autistic people he's talking about DO exist. I'm not saying I agree with anything he wants to do about it, but social media discourse likes to ignore the very real struggles of high needs autism.

I'm talking about autism. Level 3, non verbal autism. There are autistic people out there that will not live alone. I'm not sure where you got learning disabilities from in what I said.

Yes, I think that's exactly where it's going. They aren't "productive" members of society.
Some of the first people the n*zis went after were disabled children, they took them right from their school and institutionalized them.

Let's say he's right (bc he is) and some autistic people won't ever hold jobs, or toilet independently, or speak. It's not helpful to say not all autistics. What is helpful is to recognize the very real attack on profoundly disabled people that this is setting up.

My point is people are quick to dismiss his words because of personal success stories, and like usual, the very real struggles of profound autism are overlooked. Please note that I am not defending him, it's very N*ziesque, but the quickness in which I hear "not all autistics" is frustrating.
