Entire company is like 15 people
Email is pretty centralized too (who doesn’t use Gmail?) but at least it is sufficiently federated. Social is different in the sense that any chain of interactions is stateful, unlike email, which only defines a communication protocol.
We need to fix the Internet
- But at the same time, Twitter probably wouldn’t have survived, or more precisely wouldn’t have had a choice, had Elon didn’t buy out the company.
Platforms originally designed to be protocols can’t be profitable. Twitter has been suffering financially for many years now at least since 2016
@jack.bsky.social was right from both perspectives:
- Twitter should have been a protocol, not a platform. @ and # signifies protocol-level consensus on how social interactivity should work, just like how email defined @domains.com.
I don’t think a lot of people realize Twitter is the first platform to have ever invented mentions with @ and hashtags with #
That’s why Tweets were so unique: they were the original social network that defines how humans interact on mobile today, right now
And it’s gone. Just like that.
X/Twitter effectively chose to commit suicide by removing the term “Tweet” and “Twitter”
Tweets are now Posts, Retweets are now Reposts, etc… does Elon recognize how valuable products becoming unique verbs are? Like seriously, how is X different from any other Twitter alternatives now?
Is Bluesky Twitter now?

Hellloooooo Justin!!
Hello world!
