That he did! (even though the character itself was used in ads for Ted Kennedy in the 1980 election)

I'm not in Philadelphia right now (because of the implications...), but at least Archie Bunker for President is representing me at the @uncpress.bsky.social booth.

If you're attending OAH this weekend, check it out!

Enjoyed this review (after waiting for weeks to first read the book)! I especially appreciated Thompson's deep engagement with the media not just as atmospheric but key political institution (not unlike what you did in The Life and Death of Ryan White).

tucker is criticizing trump to further his own far-right politics. not only do you not have to hand it to him, but when you do hand it to him, you're lending him legitimacy to do other bad things.

The fact that Trump is going to oral arguments to pressure the justices to acquiesce to his attempted nullification of a constitutional amendment and create a stateless class for the first time since the civil war, illustrates what is really at the core of the Trump project and it isn’t tariffs.

Even if I wasn't friends with @llassabe.bsky.social I would still be recommending Resistance from the Right. It such a smart and relevant history of conservative activists on campus.

Sometimes you come across a title outside your field that draws your attention and you can't really say why.

Currently, for me that is Jack Reid's book on the rise and fall of hitchhiking.

Such an honor to receive this recognition for my book!

Archie Bunker for President was my dream project and I enjoyed every step of the process. I'm particularly glad to see the award committee describe it as an "insightful and thoroughly entertaining book."

Honored that Archie Bunker for President is among the finalists for the SMU Center for Presidential History Book Prize!!

Television entertainment is often dismissed as trivial, so this recognition of my book as political/presidential history means a lot.

One of the reasons I'm on social media is the regular reminders when the books I have been looking forward to are out in the world!

This is valid. It's also an argument for the political value of something like Fox News in driving issue salience. There's an infrastructure on the right that is missing on the left.
