Wife of active-duty U.S. Army soldier detained by ICE in Texas at immigration appointment The wife of a sergeant first class was detained by ICE at an immigration appointment in Texas. He says he doesn't understand why, and "ICE is out of control right now."

You cannot hate ICE enough. “Ortega was summoned to the El Paso immigration office for an interview related to an application for a special program designed to offer deportation protections to military spouses or parents who are in the U.S. without legal status.“ www.cbsnews.com/news/ice-det...

Anti-Data Center organizing is really ramping up especially in the South.

We must require ALL data centers and other extremely large corporate users of electricity to generate their own electricity at their own expense If we don't do this, we are either idiots and/or masochists.

‘I wished for death’: Sexual violence in Israel’s prisons is an ‘organised state policy’ Palestinian testimonies reveal how sexual violence, including rape using objects and dogs, is approved by 'highest levels' of Israeli leadership

Amazing that damage to a crucifix is forcing Israel to do PR damage control while the systematic rape of prisoners *as policy* is not. [c/w details in this piece are *extremely* upsetting] www.middleeasteye.net/news/i-wishe...

As a former StoryCorps facilitator, this is fucking disgusting.

End the project already, Dave.

You created a good model: you encouraged people to sit and do oral history for 20 yrs.

Turning StoryCorps into a surveillance capitalism nightmare is not worth the money to keep the project going.

The loudest voices on this site on Covid are the most obnoxious and know the least about it from a social justice framework. They also refer to the pandemic in past tense

It will never stop pissing me off how much trump is going to walk away from this presidency as a “real” billionaire in a way he never was before, and it is going to be solely because of the public office

Keep an eye out!

As AI winds down while VC money runs out, they're going to continue following the same failed playbook Web3 used. They'll redirect the focus from big money (companies, entrepreneurs) to marginalized communities.

Prepare to see AI re-spun as a tool to empower women/POC/LGBT.

On January 10, 2022, the Knicks played the San Antonio Spurs at the Garden. It was Pride night. Richards was there, attending with a friend. An 18-page report prepared by Eversole's Threat Management Group and reviewed by WIRED shows just how closely she was being monitored.

07:10:20 // CAM 0241 // scans her ticket to section 102, Row 8, Seat 5

07:11:14 // CAM 1434 // goes up terrace escalators on level 3 to level 6 concourse

07:12:52 // CAM AC10 // hugs usher

Appendix A of the report has a screenshot of the embrace, with Richards circled in red.

08:08:58 // CAM 1093 // talking with F&B worker at the Draft Kings Bar

08:10:49 // CAM 0512 // pays for the drinks

08:31:19 // CAM 0485 // eating at a table

It goes on and on. At 8:48 pm, camera 0489 spots another quick hug with an MSG “membership experience executive” (there's a grainy photo in the report's Appendix N). Two minutes and two seconds later, the same camera captures her heading into the women's bathroom. Her exit is noted after precisely two minutes and five seconds.

The owner of MSG and the Knicks compiled this kind of second-by-second surveillance of a trans woman while they were in the arena. They're doing this at all venues owned by James Dolan of perceived enemies. Crazy, crazy shit.

The Shocking Secrets of Madison Square Garden's Surveillance Machine Famously vengeful Knicks owner Jim Dolan has long spied on people at his iconic arenas. WIRED goes deep inside the operation that allegedly tracked a trans woman, lawyers, protesters, and more.

Using facial recognition tech, the Knicks surveilled a trans woman, tracking her every move out of fear she'd show up on MSG's tv broadcast

And they can do it to any "enemy" of Jim Dolan, who's built his own deep state. From @noahshachtman.bsky.social & me @wired.com www.wired.com/story/madiso...

If you were outraged when Trump tried to silence Jimmy Kimmel, you should be outraged by what they're doing to students who spoke out against the war in Gaza.

Now they're firing immigration "judges" who refuse to go along with their illegal scheme.
