when i’m in my worst pain, when all my mental capacity is spent on planning trips to the bathroom or kitchen so they will take as little energy as possible, it feels like i’ll never experience anything else. i just have to trust the fact that it’s never been permanent yet.
as long as i can predict recovery timelines i can make the conscious decision to rest instead of pushing myself to do more, which means i can actually rest without feeling guilty or hopeless, which is crucial for surviving this.
my health is very bad and it’s still slowly getting worse, like it has for the last twelve years since i got sick, but i am getting better at managing it. my baseline symptom level is livable as long as my supports are in place. i know how to navigate a flare up and estimate recovery times.
