Very excited to share our study of an ancient environmental genome extracted from lake sediment! Oh, the excitement of opening up the chamber of a Russian corer! This particular beauty was collected the other week with first-year students from ~7.5m below the peat surface, near Hässleholm, southern Sweden. A really nice example and perfect for discussing the late glacial-holocene transition! ❄️🌞
