The Metro Nashville Police Department has requested $2.9M for License Plate Readers.
We must say NO

If answers from NDOT about previous mistakes or inefficiencies are “past leadership” the answer should be “well then there should be nothing stopping us from correcting that now”
Cheers to @kemcdonell.bsky.social for perfectly describing Nashville's BS and non-committal approach to building out cycling and multimodal facilities in the downtown core and throughout Davidson County.
We need our leaders to lead, instead of finding excuses like they so often do.

Taqueria San Luis should be considered
We will be learning about the damage caused by DOGE for years to come, and we may not ever really ever know the full extent.
Rode a bike today. It was very nice
Nashville's Vision Zero Advisory Committee passed the attached resolution at last night's meeting. As Nashville prepares for this once-in-a-generation development, the Committee is calling on the city to prioritize human safety and transit efficiency over unnecessary vehicle capacity.

Alright I’m done flooding your timeline with space talk for now, except for the occasional pictures that are going to come up. Let’s get back to buses and bike lanes
There’s never been a bigger flex than these hats
Haven’t seen it either. They weren’t able to transmit during reentry, and then powered down after splashdown, so they probably have to download it off the vehicle once it gets back to Kennedy. There’s a lot of data they need to get that way
There really is nothing that gets people excited about space like sending astronauts. This entire mission happened the exact same way in Artemis I in 2022, but got probably less than half the excitement.
It’s amazing watching other humans do incredible things
I don’t think it’s real tbh
Humanity did that. Science did that. Publicly-funded research did that. Excellent universities did that. Diversity did that. International cooperation did that.
Artemis II is a perfect example of what we can do at our best.
Welcome home, Integrity crew!
whenever people announce they're taking a break from bluesky, it's usually because they're astronauts experiencing a mandatory communications blackout as they re-enter earth's atmosphere. that's why they always come back in six minutes
San Diego. They’ve earned a vacation
The capsule splashing down onto the water with the three red and white parachutes above it
Splashdown! Vehicle is stable and upright. “A perfect bulls-eye splash for Integrity and its four astronauts!” #Artemis
They did it! Mission success!
Here we go!
🛰️ Our European Service Module has successfully separated from Orion's crew module!
🚀 After propelling the spacecraft over 1 million km in deep space, it will now burn up in Earth's atmosphere, as the astronauts continue their journey home 🌍
All of these views from the outside of Orion that you see are 4 GoPros strapped at the ends of each of the extended solar panels
I’m not sure why that’s not their entire ad campaign
Earth getting larger behind Orion
I mean come on
As I type this, Orion is about 28,000 miles away, in a free fall toward Earth at about 8,200mph
Just off the coast of San Diego. Reentry coverage starts around 5:30pm. At around 6:30pm, we’ll see Orion separate from the European Service Module, which is the part of Orion we can see in that picture, the thrusters and the solar panels. Then parachuted splashdown should be around 7pm
View from Orion, Earth getting larger on approach
View from Orion approaching Earth
They’ll be home soon
I think Waymo pretty easily fits in a category of my brain that is “I can appreciate that this is very cool technology, I don’t like the way it’s used”
I think I’ve seen someone biking on the sidewalk down Edmondson every day this past week. It sure would be nice and safer if we put some bike lanes in for these folks
There's something utterly fantastic about the WB-57 footage of launches, like the one we just got for Artemis II, and I clipped it just after SRB separation.
Artemis II reentry livestream will begin Friday, ~5:30pm CDT with splashdown expected ~7pm
From what I’ve seen, pretty much every astronaut that leaves earth comes back talking about what a jewel our planet is, how lucky we are to inhabit it, and how important it is for us to take care of it
