When I said the education sector is hurting and about to be more so, including tenured faculty, in my comments yesterday… this will help you understand. Academic freedom (in so many ways) will no longer be a thing in order to comply with mandated behavior.

Anyone on an income dependent loan repayment plan (IDR) when they’re set to resubmit income & re-certify their need, the govt is no longer processing apps. This causes the loan payment to default to the orig payment amount, for example I’ve seen some $285 payments on IDR default back to $1000+/mo.

This is old-ish news (since things change on a dime lately), but no one is talking much about it…

If you’re unaware as tax pros, you may need to know for your clients and their kids sake that income dependent student loan plans have been suspended and aren’t being processed (along with others). 😣
