I only took my cookbooks when I moved, and it pains me to realize I'll probably have to leave the cookbooks behind too for my next move. Maybe I can go back to building a small library one day. If I live. #UselessReflections

+I made it a tradition for me as an adult: book + red roses on April 23. I'm sadly not buying books at all since living alone, but, if one is to indulge in consumerism, World Book Day is a lovelier occasion than Valentine's. Do it for the reader in your life/yourself, if you're so inclined and can.
April 23 is World Book Day & commemorates the death of Cervantes and Shakespeare. The tradition of adding books to red roses on St George to promote reading started in Catalonia in the 1920s & was adopted later by the UNESCO. It was never observed at home, my parents being archenemies of culture. +
I also find Phobophilic and Tomb Mold very dancy.
I dance a lot to Gorod, Kalmah, Olkoth, Carnosus, Daath, but I think my ultimate throwing ass would be Meshuggah. I regularly play The Abysmal Eye when I'm particularly feeling like dancing.
A blue bowl with strips of green cabbage, bacon (I don't like guanciale; sorry, Italy), egg & grated pecorino sauce, more pecorino and lots of black pepper on top.
Cabbage carbonara is what's for dinner tonight. #FoodSky 🍜
I have no clue what's where in the United States.

It's such a powerful reason. Since Astaroth passed, In increasingly aware of how much I don't need to be here anymore.
Not Fortress week, but the one after. Now that I've decided to not cancel, after struggling a lot about it, I'm super hyped about it. #Eurotrip2026
One of the reasons I'm so looking forward to Fortress this year is: I will be taking a Whole Week Off. Something I haven't allowed myself since before the divorce.
Same 🫶🏼
I won't even attempt humbleposting, my paellas are actually really good. I wish I could share them with appreciative folks!
I had never thought about freezing grapes! Def something to consider next time I get some.
The rice-a-roni characterization is actually a perfect description 🤣 I avoid Spanish restaurants here like the plague, but I will go out of my way to *not* eat "paella" at any restaurant that features it on their menu.
Sadly this has been the experience for most people. They don't "get" paella because they've only had mediocre dishes that don't even qualify as paella in the eyes of a lenient Spaniard like myself. And I'm saying this as someone whose favorite rice main dish is biryani, not paella. I'm not biased.

Ahhh! I was trying to find the connection with "vintage" as I'm "old-fashioned". Thanks for clarifying!
It's maddening isn't it?
I appreciate your support, Matt.
Everybody loves to shit on social media, I do too (see my many grumbling posts about Insta), but the truth is, it's been a blessing for me. I would have spent my life fully isolated without Internet. I probably wouldn't even be here. I'm thankful for the strangers on the other side of the screen.
Malcolm, I have to ask: why "vintage"? I see you put that in your lunch posts but it doesn't seem related to the food itself.

Please don't be afraid to share. Do try to keep *certain* things off here for your own protection (you never know who's reading or their intentions), but still, *many* things you're going through... you'll find you're not alone in that struggle. #UselessReflections
My awful dump of an apartment is always available to good moot visitors.
Ok, I need this.
If you're ever in Phila we can watch each other's belongings while we take turns to use the ladies 🤣💔🫂
Oh Allie... I'm so sorry. (This has happened to me too 💔)
I'm a big believer in sharing because I know I'm not alone. I share a LOT to let others know they aren't either, and at the same time I'm very zealous about sharing detailed accounts about my own past and present issues. It's a delicate balance, but putting some of your struggles out there helps 🫂
And don't let me get started about social punishment. Or another dumb example: I'm comfortable going to restaurants by myself, but there are restaurants that won't even seat me if I'm alone.
