Trump administration axes more than $125M in LGBTQ health funding, upending research field The administration’s cancellation of hundreds of grants is dismantling the LGBTQ-focused research field, built out of nothing over a quarter century.

In the past month, the NIH terminated many ISGMH grants focused on HIV prevention, LGBTQ health, and training early career scholars. The effect on our institute has been devastating.

Director @mustanski.bsky.social spoke to @nbcnews.com about the impact. www.nbcnews.com/nbc-out/out-...

Big cuts to US AIDS prevention feared as NIH axes HIV research grants More than 200 federal grants for research related to HIV and AIDS have been abruptly terminated in the past few weeks.

“We’ve built the ATN over 25 years,” says Lisa Hightow-Weidman at Florida State University’s College of Nursing, one of the network’s main investigators. “And it was destroyed with an e-mail in a day.”

I am horrified though not shocked to say that our NIH r01 grant to improve the HIV testing of young people across florida has been terminated. This further marginalization of stigmatized populations is a human rights violation.
