Finally back after being away from Bluesky since October when my state's jackassery led to Bluesky banning the state for a while. Didn't blame them. I sorta missed it, though.

Now I gotta relearn how to use the dang thing. Buy at least I can sign in again.

Watching the Overton Window slide day by day, sometimes by millimeters, sometimes by miles.

(Overton Window: The range of subjects and opinions considered acceptable to mainstream population. The Window changes. Sometimes it's easy to see the shift; sometimes it's not seen until it's too late.)

Either they lied back then, or they're lying now.

There's no other way to view this.

Either way.... LIES. Lies atop lies. Misdirection. Attempted burial of facts. Saying that factual actions that WE ALL SAW ... didn't actually happen.

Lies.

Nobody likes being lied to.

Nobody.

Deep South here. We upgraded to a heat pump early last year and our electricity bills have gone done with no loss of heating or cooling. In fact, we have to keep the thermostat set higher in summer because the pushed air is so much colder. Just a data point.

Can we all please, please, please stop using that catchy two-word name for the concentration camp in the Everglades? It's making it cute. It's lazy. It's somehow funny. It fits great on a t-shirt or cap.

It's dangerous. It trivializes a horror.

"Everglades Prison for People We Don't Like" works.

Many are despicable but one is just a pathetic weasel who does nothing but follow the highest bidder. Who?

Johnny Bowman.

(Oh, he sometimes goes by J.D. Vance)

It's not remotely surprising that he is slowly coating the People's House in tacky gold, constructing a monument to his own pitiful idea of superiority.

But boy, it sure is scarily accurate. I hope we're not doomed to forty years in the wilderness thanks to this buffoon.

Today's truly alarming thought?

That Stephen Miller is actually in control of the U.S. government. 47 is a puppet, and not a very good one.

The road to fascism is lined with people telling you to stop over reacting

The road to fascism is lined with people telling you to stop over reacting

There is no such thing as an overreaction with what has now happened. This is the line in the sand.

Every red hat who supports killing Americans is a traitor.

Yesterday, in a deep red small city in a deep red state that supported the person now in the White House by a smaller margin than I expected... Yesterday, some 300+ people gathered at the No Kings protest on Main Street.

It was peaceful. It was determined. It was angry yet oddly joyful. No Kings!

The Trojan Horse was a gift, too.

And 15 of the 19 terrorists on 9/11 were Saudi.

And the current crown prince of Saudi Arabia had a dissident journalist hacked to literal pieces in the Saudi Consulate in Istanbul. And has paid no price, either legally or in the court of public opinion.

Good trouble. Mocking the fascist regime is a clever and effective tool of resistance.

Please enjoy these shelter pups reacting to getting a kiss. Some are bashful, some have butterflies, and all deserve approximately 10 million more. 14/10 for all

And also... Andor, both seasons, are heartbreaking and too totally apt to our current situation. I just hope the U.S. doesn't have to have a Ghorman before the general populace wakes up.

I can't be the only person to recognize that the United States has basically been sold to the TrumpMusk private equity firm.

Now its job is to steal all the money it can, stiff anybody it owes, walk away laughing to a cozy life with our stolen money and leave us - U.S. citizens - in the dirt.

Where are the other billionaires with this kind of attitude?

In New York, ICE detained a busload of farmworkers that were actively involved in a union drive.

In Washington state, ICE dragged a farmworkers’ rights activist and leader out of his car to detain him.

Be warned: attacking unions is a hallmark of fascism.

The administration wants women to have babies. Clarify: They want white women to have babies. So maybe they'll offer a $5,000 bonus per baby.

That sound you hear is 95% of women just cackling at these idiots. $5,000 won't even put a dent in the hospital bill or pay for six months of child care.

Let's use coal-powered plants to keep AI data centers operational. Right.

Nobody sees anything ... sad about that? Trying to move into a bold new future by using one of the oldest and most destructive methods of producing power?

The emperor has no clothes.

As promised, here are the slides I shared with students to convince them to NOT use chatGPT and other artificial stupidity.

TL;DR? AI is evil, unsustainable and stupid, and I'd much rather they use their own brains, make their own mistakes, and actually learn something. 🪄

We, the people, fought a war to rid ourselves of a king once already.

Are we seriously trying to crown one now?
