Forbes is gamifying news about the horrific mass shooting in Shreveport, LA this weekend, encouraging readers to bet on the likelihood of gun regulation with fake money via its "ForbesPredict" feature.
Eight children were murdered in the shooting.

CERTIORARI -- SUMMARY DISPOSITION 24-1099 SMITH, KYLE, ET AL. V. SCOTT, ROCHELLE, ET AL. The petition for a writ of certiorari is granted. The judgment is vacated, and the case is remanded to the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit for further consideration in light of Zorn v. Linton, 607 U. S. ___ (2026) (per curiam). Justice Sotomayor, Justice Kagan, and Justice Jackson would deny the petition for a writ of certiorari.
By a 6–3 vote, and with no opinion, the Supreme Court throws out a lower court decision denying qualified immunity who killed an unarmed, mentally ill man by using "bodyweight force" to restrain him. All three liberals dissent. www.supremecourt.gov/orders/court...
Palantir put out the most cartoonishly evil statement possible. They’re so arrogant and self-confident they don’t seem to believe their fascistic plans can be opposed.
We must get rid of Palantir altogether.

"The rise of extreme wealth is one of the clearest signs of this imbalance. In 1987, billionaires held wealth equal to 3% of global GDP. Today this tiny elite, just 0.0001% of the world population, owns the equivalent of *16%* of world GDP in wealth."
incredible that the lifelong Catholic in this specific situation is The Pope
NEWS: Huge first win for Mayor Mamdani’s tax-the-rich plans in NYC.
Mamdani just secured a deal with Gov. Hochul to create the state’s first-ever tax on $5 million+ second homes owned by ultrawealthy out-of-state residents.
Why aren't students protesting?
Same!!
Congratulations to every one else also celebrating Guggenheim rejection day!

“In “My Bad: A Personal History of the Queer Nineties and Beyond” (Bold Type, 2026), out in May, queer historian Hugh Ryan takes us from the painful purgatory of 7th grade, where his gender was a Lisa Frank trapper keeper, to his experiences with camp, AOL chat rooms, androgyny, coming of age in the mid-1990s AIDS period, Radical Faeries, Burning Man, sex work, 9/11, thruppledom, and much more, amounting to the author’s “attempt at a balance sheet.””
Thanks @outsfl.bsky.social for including MY BAD on your hot 2026 list! And great to see @reluctantlyjoe.bsky.social & @hilmalatino.bsky.social on the list too! outsfl.com/books/hot-20...
Thank you! Look at us all, building queer futures from words. Love to see it! ❤️
Thanks for including MY BAD!
i think vance’s great asset is that the press likes him and sees him as one of their own
I know it’s crazy, but as an alternative, White House staffers could simply choose not to commit any crimes.
Hugh Ryan - My Bad May 26, 2026 I met Hugh a couple years ago at the Provincetown Book Festival, where I heard him read from The Women’s House of Detention: A Queer History of a Forgotten Prison. I know him mostly as a historian, and I was excited to read My Bad, Ryan’s memoir of queer life in the 90s. I loved being inside this book, and inside Ryan’s early exploration through queerness. He has an eye for historical details, which feel especially relevant in this book, where Ryan deftly draws connections between larger social forces and his personal journey. I normally hate the word journey, but that is what’s happening here. What makes this memoir really stand out is Ryan’s honest assessment of himself. I’m reminded of Melissa Febos, who also lovingly takes a scalpel to her past actions–both Ryan and her write with the rare courage of honesty, highlighting both their accomplishments and the small but significant shames that make up a life. Ryan doesn’t veer away from those moments, and by doing so, he has written a book that feels so smart and embracing. I can’t wait for this to be in the world
The Provincetown Book Festival is where I met so many writers I love and have been blessed to be in community with ever since. Thank you @islemcelroy.bsky.social for this shout out to MY BAD as one of your favorite books of 2026 so far!
Ha! It’s funny too, promise 🤞
