VA plans to abruptly eliminate tens of thousands of health care jobs Strains on the Veterans Affairs system could grow with the elimination of as many as 35,000 mostly unfilled health care positions, including doctors and nurses.

A holiday dagger at the heart of veteran health care—Collins’ cuts will stretch thinner a staff already struggling with rising workloads. Saying positions are open is no excuse for failing to fill them—many mission critical jobs. It leads to longer wait times, less responsive care.

Last night at Brown, students were studying for their last exams, excited to return home to reunite with their family and friends, their lives were forever altered by gun violence. We must do better for each other and not allow our futures to be dictated by the gun industry.

Hanukkah reminds us of the power of our light, especially amidst the darkness and when facing adversity. Happy Hanukkah to those celebrating in New Jersey and around the world.
