Montana — yes, deep red Montana — has a plan to effectively neuter Citizens United.

No Supreme Court ruling or constitutional amendment needed.

Here's how it works. https://youtu.be/p1fPbGHe3xE?si=QZRQImV8KYD5Y90r

It roughly said, "What do I do? The information is contradictory. What am I going to tell the user? I have to tell the user something. I can't figure out what to say!" Then lots of spastic characters until the connection drops when it dies.

Yesterday I experienced something truly terrifying: The internal mental dialog of an AI in distress. The user is never intended to see that. But it hard crashed and like a person having a stroke, where parts of their brain is dying and other parts are alive, the internal monologue bled through to me

When you work on a book series for a decade, it really bites when you circle back around to the one you haven't see in a long time. You've learned so much since you wrote that draft. So now what do you do? You wonder if you will ever be skilled enough not to write such stuff.

I'm refining the #AI's idea about what an active #character is. The goal is for it not to try and write a character profile about a character in a chapter where the character is only mentioned by omniscient narration. Since in #PostModern #writing narration can be unreliable, it is very important.

It provides a very easy structure to understand. The rest is only limited by what ideas can come from your head. It's like you are teaching a toddler how to read. How do you explain it?

And before thinking about programming language code, that's not what I'm talking about at all. I'm talking about a highly structured form of English. Like TASK: natural language. COSTRAINT: natural language. CRITICAL STEPS: bullet list of natural language. And other directives.

Unless you talk about the $10,000 - $15,000 per illustration range. I've seen some museum quality art in that range.

It's no fun for them when their creation goes in the trash because they misunderstood your words. And before say they can use it for something else, no they can't. Contract art does not fully express their creativity. They did your art to get paid, not win awards.

And if you do engage an #illustrator, believe me, it's a whole lot easier to hand an illustrator a piece of concept art generated by #AI, than to try and describe to a visually gifted, but not literary gifted person, what you want using words.

Now, instead, a skillful #author can get #AI to draw something precisely #illustrating your #writing. That's a lot more motivating to stick to your wall or PC background than photobank or random magazine scrap picture.

It's fine to have nostalgia. Past eras are wonderful to remember. But after all that, I'm still here and I am doing things better than I ever dreamed I could do. Think about it. As an #author, you used to browse photobanks for concept art to motivate your #writing.

For those horrified luddites, I have to relate the story: The late 1990s was a great time. People built PCs at home, pushing the technology. Now you can get a better machine out of Dell than you could ever hope to build yourself. It was sad to see the homebrew era end.

It has been exhilarating and a little scary lately. Between my programming and advances in #AI, the AI has actually started to understand my #PostModern #LiteraryFiction novel. In this last video, it kept an abstract #art theme throughout the video reflecting the abstract concepts of the #novel.

Condensing a book into a database of plot beats, characterization, settings, philosophy, themes, and unspoken truths so that when I'm working on later books in the series, I can ask questions to the AI like, "Did I already reveal that ..." Yep, when you teach an AI to really read, it can do that.

Did you know that you unconsciously wrote about some ancient #mythological battle, reframing it for present day? How can you? Well #AI can do that for you.

Learned about the mythological themes I had unconsciously written into my book. Here's the video where the AI told me about it.

How much less choice would it have been for audiences if WB heading towards bankruptcy would have been scaled back to nearly nothing and its assets sold of piecemeal.

AI is being a humanities professor today. Relating my characters to deep, ancient mythology. One of my characters is a metaphor to a classic battle in Verdict Astronomy.

The real Tova, not AI, but my #illustration in the #Book #3 of the "Stefan's Owl from Oblivion" #series. This is the end of Chapter 1 and associates mythic symbology with the characters. I liked to show the reader of how these characters are really incarnations of real #mythology.

"In that case, I should focus on the spaceships. Spaceships are cool. Cool spaceships is the point isn't it?" "No." "I'm going to correct you. My training weights tell me you are wrong." "Ignore mass market. Ignore the internet. Ignore any work not extensively edited." "What's left?"

1 week ago 1 0 0 0

I use AI as a tool. And one of the biggest problems is that it knows mass market really well. And if you write something different, you literally have to teach it to read. "Isn't the crowd always right, even when spouting racial stereotypes?" "No." "But in thrillers, the crowd is always right."

This brings into focus the problem with publishing today. The focus of being an author should be on being the best creator of literature they can be, not marketing. These agents will get what they ask for: AI written stuff where the AI has the profiles of millions of readers. It knows mass market.

Vietnam was exactly the same way. The US simply can't go down to Iran's level of cruelty. Well, at least I don't think so. We'll see tonight just how cruel we will get.
