🏛️ The conference was held under the honorary patronage of the Vice-Rector of the Jagiellonian University Medical College – Professor Maciej Małecki, the Mayor of the City of Krakow, and the Polish Psychiatric Association. In addition, the City of Krakow was an official patron of the conference.
💬 Discussions were also undertaken regarding groups excluded from access to psychotherapy.
🧑🔬 The conference program was prepared by a team led by Felicitas Rost (Open University, UK). The local host of the conference in Poland was Michał Mielimąka (Department of Psychotherapy, Jagiellonian University Medical College, Poland).
The influence of various behaviors and activities of psychotherapists on the effectiveness of treatment in different populations (e.g., those with eating disorders, mood disorders, anxiety disorders, or identity disorders) was analyzed.
Analyses were presented on the impact of factors related to the patient, psychotherapist, culture, and environment on the course of psychotherapy treatment.
📊 The results of epidemiological studies were also shared, including those defining the characteristics of populations seeking treatment.
🧵 The thematic scope of the conference was very broad and covered detailed issues related to the components of the psychotherapy process – both individual, group, and family therapy.
📚 The program included over 650 presentations, including plenary lectures, presentations of research results in parallel sessions, workshops, and structured discussions. During the poster session, more than 140 papers were also presented.
🌍 The event was attended by over 750 researchers from 5 continents, 49 countries, and several hundred universities and institutions involved in scientific research on psychotherapy.
📅 On June 25–28, 2025, the 56th Society for Psychotherapy Research International Annual Meeting "Psychotherapy Research-Practice Integration: Who Are the Voices We Need to Hear" took place in Krakow 🇵🇱.
