pretty weird for me to read a Trump rant and keep nodding affirmatively, but here we are….

Wasn't trying to be pedantic : ) Just been thinking a lot lately about all the rationales standard models provide for not always chasing median (a lot!); I think this one is under appreciated. "Exogenous valence" just seems like a proxy for "not exactly even ex ante," which is almost all elections.
The difference between win probability and votes matters a lot. E.g., in valence models and a noisy electorate (Aragones and Palfrey), the weaker candidate -has- to position away from the median to have a chance. Public discourse about weaker candidates "experimenting" sounds a lot like this to me.

People smarter than I assure me it is helpful in solving frontier problems in theoretical physics, and yet…
All platforms I interact with are eventually trained to serve me up either dogs or cartoon about dogs; my FB feed is no exception.
No; down this road lies madness. Orphans go straight to the laundry bin, hoping their match will eventually reappear.
Is this really a misunderstanding of the effect of badgering, or a lack of coordination across campaigns and a sort of tragedy of the commons?
my desire to stay away from social media was trumped by my desire to be a (admittedly insignificant) part of raising a middle finger to mr musk
