Violet Beauregard continues to be super competitive, but moves on from gum to becoming a world-class gymnast. She wins multiple Olympic gold medals. Her skin never quite sheds the slightly purple tinge.

Mike Teevee ends up on TV himself in the end - as a star basketball player due to his incredible height. He's criticized for being a fundamentally lazy player, but his lanky frame makes playing super easy for him so he rarely has to put much effort in. He just likes being famous.

Augustus Gloop starts his own chocolate boutique as an adult, chasing the high of the pure Wonka chocolate. He becomes world renowned for his fancy and experimental chocolate creations, but never seems quite satisfied with his recipe and keeps fiddling with it year in and year out.

Head canon: I would expect the Salt family to file a class action - but of course Wonka had them all sign waivers and NDAs before the tour. Pretty iron clad. Veruca does just fine as she's the daughter of a mogul, and fails upward through her life. Probably gets into politics.

We've begun season 8 of "Columbo," which is only four episodes. On the first episode, Nita looked over and said "I'm glad they let Columbo just be older."

I was like, "I don't think they could have disguised Peter Falk's age. He was in his 40's in the original run, and that was 11 years ago."
