Just for perspective, while I think on. Based on my reckoning, there have been seven Labour Prime Ministers and three have had to deal with questions about Mandelson. You know, if we are playing the "how could Starmer have known he was unsuitable" game.

STATEMENT OF PRESIDENT DONALD J. TRUMP:

Based on the fact that the Government of Iran is seriously fractured, not unexpectedly so and, upon the request of Field Marshal Asim Munir, and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, of Pakistan, we have been asked to hold our Attack on the Country of Iran until such time as their leaders and representatives can come up with a unified proposal. I have therefore directed our Military to continue the Blockade and, in all other respects, remain ready and able, and will therefore extend the Ceasefire until such time as their proposal is submitted, and discussions are concluded, one way or the other. I tend to be against Trump escalating World War 3 and getting us all killed, I am actively against global annihilation in fact, but this seems like a very clear, backtracking, holding pattern, from someone who is massively out of their depth.

It is exhausting for the accurate argument "its not racist to voice concerns about immigration [unless they are racist]" to now become fused to a *presumption* of racism if voice [liberal] criticisms of Shabana Mahmood [who may herself want to critique Braverman or Yusuf or Farage occasionally]

We have seen this with the likes of Farage et al in the UK. It completely ignores that people are more likely to contract such illnesses once arrived due to the conditions they are placed in.

I don't know. This sounds like a great idea to me

Got to kind of admire the thought process which goes Starmer can be trusted to run the country but shouldn't be expected to take responsibility for the actions of Number 10. I am sure that will play well with voters

Apologies, I took the time to look through your replies and realise that explaining wasn't actually what you were after, nor a debate, when you dismiss this as a "storm in a teacup" and ignore the very serious issues surrounding such an appointment. That's on me. 4/

Under the circumstances, and considering everything else he has done, it is pretty clear Starmer can't lead Labour into next General Election. He isn't trusted or liked. If he, or his supporters, want to show they care about future he needs to resign asap for someone else to try and fix the mess. 3/

Oh, not to mention the whole Doyle bit or that this is part of a pattern for Starmer to lie, mislead, break the rules and then blame other. Even if, as I assume you are going to, you don't agree, he is now an even larger liability than he already was, which was already pretty big. 2/

He appointed Mandelson, he misled parliament, he ignored advice on vetting. Not to labor the point, but he overruled procedures to push a candidate who had such a well known track record that he was nicknamed the Prince of Darkness, and Robinson's testimony confirmed number 10 pushed it through. 1/

Moving house, again, and the most depressing thing is working out which books to clear out and realising I need a specific tbr shelf. Finding multiple copies of books I have promised myself to read, never got round to, put somewhere and then bought another copy when I remember I should read it.

Don't get me wrong, I hold my hands up to the fact I tell people to fuck off when they annoy me. A rather key distinction is I don't do it in a professional sense and am not the Home Secretary, an oversight I feel.

Nothing will convince me that Mahmood isn't a Reform plant at this stage. This isn't about how she looks, race, religion or anything else. It is that she is implementing abhorrently racist and xenophobic policies while telling those who point out that they are such to fuck off. Hardly a winning plan

On reflection, I think post the Robbins appearance, KS will have to resign — OR torpedoed the government’s line to the HoC in three crucial regards.

This is just horrific. The gender critical movement along with the British press bullied her out of her job at the NHS and now they doxed her after she fled the country and are continuing the harassment and defamation. These people are absolute monsters.

The idea that being *a member of the House of Lords* in any way means you can be trusted with Top Secret/STRAP material without proper vetting is so beyond absurd that this must surely be a joke?

I do also wonder, knowing full well there are plenty of people who defend Labour for policies which they'd have condemned last government for, how many will defend Mahmood's reaction when they, rightly, criticised Jenkyn's doing the exact same thing in practice when she pulled the middle finger. 5/

People do have "concerns" about immigration. More often than not those concerns are based on a fiction created to spread division and increase hostility towards migrants. There is nothing "legitimate" about letting that go unchecked, or, as Mahmood and Labour do, actively emboldening it. 4/

When Labour actively engages in spreading misinformation about immigration there is nothing "legitimate" about their policies. When they use rhetoric which mimics the far right, there is nothing legitimate about it. 3/

Shabana Mahmood swears at hecklers over Reform UK comments Home secretary accuses protesters of trying to ‘delegitimise’ concerns people have over immigration

Absolutely, Mahmood's race, religion or anything else should not be used to attack her. It should be done on the basis that there is nothing "legitimate" about inhumane and hostile anti-immigration policies she pushes or the way she outright lies to do so. 1/

Again, from freebiegate, to Mandleson, to Doyle just a consistent theme of behaviour that would be unacceptable and, frankly, result in a disciplinary in the private sector is just normalised in parliament.

A real, persistent problem for our politics that it is so endemic and normalised.

Well, this Olly Robinson testimony is... something. At what point do we just accept the PM is toast? No matter what, public trust in him is so severely eroded as to make it untenable for him to remain surely?
