The AIP has expressed their deep concerns about proposed changes which would see Physics removed as a stand-alone discipline at the University of Newcastle.

Cannot believe Peter André‘s „Mysterious Girl“ didn’t feature in the hottest 100. Looking forward to hearing it in the hottest 200. #hottest100

There is a slow #solarstorm approaching the Earth, with models for the 🌍 arrival time ranging from early Sat Jul 26 to early Mon Jul 28 - a very wide range indeed! In SDO/SOHO images it is NOT the fast eruption to the right (look for a ☄️ there!), but a faint "halo" around the ☀️ on early July 23.

Solar Orbiter gets world-first views of the Sun’s poles Thanks to its newly tilted orbit around the Sun, the European Space Agency-led Solar Orbiter spacecraft is the first to image the Sun’s poles from outside the ecliptic plane. Solar Orbiter’s unique vi...

In 2025, Solar Orbiter gave us a first-ever look at the Sun’s south pole.

Remarkably, it found both north and south magnetic fields tangled together.

This is a sign that the Sun is at the peak of its 11-year activity cycle, when its magnetic poles are ready to flip...

Magnetic map showing solar magnetic field at the Sun's south pole, with red and blue areas indicating opposite polarities

Magnetic map showing solar magnetic field at the Sun's south pole, with red and blue areas indicating opposite polarities

At the south pole, #SolarOrbiter discovered that the Sun’s magnetic field is currently a mess.

This image from the PHI instrument shows that there are currently different magnetic polarities (north and south) present at the south pole. This happens when the Sun’s magnetic field flips.

‘How do they sleep at night?’ Allan and Minns governments, experts demand Albanese fix GST The cost blowout stemming from Malcolm Turnbull and Scott Morrison’s special GST deal for WA is now the federal budget’s biggest and comparable only with the NDIS.

Premiers are squabbling for $$ because Aus is a low-tax country.

While the WA GST deal is bad, the bigger prob is trying to have Euro-style services while collecting US-like tax revenues.
