Yesterday, Emma & Jess from our Employment Team attended the Gwent Women's Conference at the Lysaght Institute to mark the upcoming International Women's Day 2026 - lots of interesting workshops & presentations including the impact of an inclusive community on mental health.
We can’t wait to hear from DUKE AL, who uses poetry to challenge OCD, process life after a type 1 diabetes diagnosis, and create change one rhyme at a time.
His work shows us of the power of expression, creativity and community in supporting mental health.
🛥️ 2 days to go
Our Wales Week London event brings people from all sectors together to explore how we help our communities thrive and build hope for the future.
Because feeling safe, valued and like we belong? That’s a mental health intervention.
What does community mean to you?
Thank you to all who stopped to talk to us, came to our fringe event and connected through theirs.
As Dr Jen Daffin noted “Wales is in a unique position to take an approach that delivers this. The Wellbeing of Future Generations Act had enshrined into law a mandate to address the social determinants of health. Let’s make sure mental health is part of that too.”
Four people at the Platfform fringe event panel and audience listening to presentation.
At our fringe event chaired by Mabon ap Gwynfor, Dr Jen Daffin, Katie Dalton and Ewan Hilton discussed how real change can be achieved through opening and connecting access to support, managing transitions in a better way and taking a social justice approach to mental health.

We need an evolution in how we understand and approach mental health. It’s been great to spend time talking about it at Plaid Cymru conference over the last two days.
Accessing good quality and timely support for our mental health is essential for living fulfilling lives. Yet, under the current system, this does not always happen for everyone.
At Plaid Cymru Conference, we'll be talking about turning mental health system inside-out, join us at the event.
A huge thank you to Kevin from Enterprise Mobility for their donation of £2.5k to support our wellbeing activities. This will enable the team to continue supporting people, giving them a sense of belonging and the opportunity to connect with each other ❤️

Among Epstein scandal, it's important to acknowledge research into the experiences of survivors given a “personality disorder” diagnosis
This label can overshadow histories of sexual abuse. It silences, reframes harm as pathology and can cost lives
#MentalHealth #SurvivorVoices #TraumaInformed
We've launched our report The Hidden Harm of the Diagnosis of personality disorder, and are calling for a change to the way trauma is diagnosed and treated. The report is available on our website alongside more information about the Truth Project and the stories people bravely shared with us.
"This report shines a necessary light on the diagnosis of ‘personality disorder’. As the findings make starkly clear, this label often serves not as a gateway to support, but as a barrier to compassion." — Alexis Quinn Survivor, psychotherapist, author and manager of the Restraint Reduction Network.
In our blog we talk about why what we have heard matters. The time for change is now.

Our new report, ‘The Hidden Harm of the diagnosis of personality disorder’, which will be launched at our sold-out event tomorrow, will call for change to the treatment of people given the diagnosis of personality disorder.
The findings are hard-hitting – but they aren’t new.
This week, as part of WCVA Cymru's #WelshCharitiesWeek, we recognise the amazing work of the community groups and voluntary organisations who work alongside us to support people facing mental health challenges.

The diagnosis of personality disorder can hide people’s experiences, and the distress that they are responding to. We’ve gathered people’s stories of receiving this diagnosis so that the truth behind the label can be heard.

Last year, homelessness in Wales reached record numbers, so more people needed the support of housing and homelessness services. Like Keith, who was in temporary accommodation and facing mental health struggles when he was referred to us. (1/3) @cymorthcymru.bsky.social
