Nonsense, if a novel virus came out that was 20% lethal but with no other symptoms and at the same time a novel virus that was completely non-lethal but gave you a bad cold for a fortnight, the first one would have a vaccine before we even started to work on a vaccine for the second!

If there were a disease that killed without any other symptoms, we would still vaccinate for it! If you ask any parent whether they would prefer their child to die without suffering or suffer with a high likelihood of surviving with no lingering symptoms. They would always pick the latter!
