a lot of variables to consider to get something accurate, but a good idea!

If we play that game, why are my taxes paying to maintain roads in your district that I never use? Why not charge area rates for that too

Does he think that's a good thing?

We need somebody good to run against Purdy

I returned here after a few years in Ontario and the feeling that it was a huge mistake gets stronger almost every day. Our leadership seems intent on undermining any potential of success or improvement.

I desperately want to live in a city that is actively bettering itself – it's what drew me back to Halifax. However, we are quickly regressing under amateurish provincial leaders and their "vacuous and controllable" mayor. I don't think continued population growth is assured.

Andy needs to stop reading Facebook. Someone needs to take his phone away.

California has an extensive system of HoV/express lanes and you know what? They were still either mostly empty (next to bumper to bumper traffic) or … also full! πŸ™„

If the lane isn’t congested it’s going to look empty! Man!

Just listening to it now. Apparently because Isleville & Devonshire already exist (?), it will "reduce transit" (?), and will remove 69 parking spaces πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

That sucks to hear, but thank you for trying! Purely out of curiosity about the process, what makes them not possible to explore at this time?

I just got a very encouraging response from @lecwhite.bsky.social that she intends to bring a motion on several screened-out options including Almon & Agricola!

Jan 27 - Item 15.1.7 – Protected Lanes > LSBs for Safety & Cost Efficiency Dear Councillor Hinch, Mayor Fillmore, and fellow Councillors, I am writing on item 15.1.7 on the agenda of Tuesday's upcoming council meeting, concerning cost-saving alternatives within the implemen...

Ended up writing an email to council, hopefully I get through to somebody πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ docs.google.com/document/d/1...

Moving to Agricola also makes a bunch of little stubby connector projects unnecessary (Almon extension, Nora Bernard, part of Charles). It's almost like all the connections and destinations are on Agricola!

I'm disappointed that they only considered absolute dollars, and not the impact of each dollar spent to actually achieve council goals. Protected lanes on Agricola and Almon (Windsor-G.Dauphinee) are listed as screened-out as alternatives to LSB projects, I was hopeful those would be reconsidered.

There's still a working link in the council agenda, seems to have been revised in some way pub-halifax.escribemeetings.com/filestream.a...

i will never get over this rebecca tiffany quote: the goal of yimbyism is a world where "every trans eighteen-year-old who is stuck living with unsupportive family [is] able to afford an apartment in a vibrant urban space with transit on a minimum wage job."

Ensures that all the diseases covered by the previous immunization schedule will still be available to anyone who wants them through Affordable Care Act insurance plans and federal insurance programs, including Medicaid, the Children’s Health Insurance Program, and the Vaccines for Children program. Families will not have to purchase them out of pocket. Among peer nations, the U.S. will continue to offer the most childhood vaccines for free to those who want them.

You should be embarrassed to be a member of congress and issuing anything other than impeachment resolutions. You're in the model UN. They should give you legos and a propeller hat

Bottle of wine meme. Top: Thanks for having us at your lovely home.

Middle: Look I just think we need to add more housing in the places where people want to live, like near jobs, schools, and transit

Bottom: Single family zoning was explicitly invented as a facially race-neutral policy to preserve residential segregation and
"local control" is the "states' rights" of our time.

Should the economy be regulated by a democratic society to ensure that it creates opportunity and benefit for everyone? Or should it be a plaything for approximately a dozen of the world's most odious assholes? Who knows

Is that intentional? I assumed it was broken and just crossed with the pedestrian signal

Oh dang, I think I saw the aftermath last night from a distance. Near the intersection with Liverpool, it looked like there was a semi involved.

The tunnel is stupid, but if Halifax was in Ontario Doug Ford probably would've dumped an LRT line on us by now

At least Doug Ford funds transit projects. How do we get Tim Houston to copy that mania too?

My least popular (and most correct) view is that cars should be automatically limited to the local speed limit. Put the pedal to the floor and you still can't go over 25mph in a residential area.

(15 in Manhattan btw)

I really hope this serves as an example of how we can improve #Halifax streets for pedestrians, people who ride bikes, and transit users.
