Yeah, it does have a sort of YA vibe to it in parts. And so it 100% does not have as much gravitas as something like TNG's overall vibe yet. As I say, it's not perfect Trek but- IMO- it is good Trek. If you get 30 min into episode 1 and are not feeling it, prob not for you.
Is #StarfleetAcademy perfect? Lord no. And goodness, they needed to find a Kevin Feige of Star Trek a decade ago. BUT it's still good, solid Trek. Holly Hunter is a fantastic captain, the kids are great, the action is big budget tent pole quality and if you love Trek, it works!
Feeling staggeringly, heartbreakingly nostalgic for the year 1985 tonight. Not sure why. It's weird. Maybe 41 years ago on this Saturday night (I woulda been 14) I was trying to communicate with myself in the future. Seems like something I woulda done. So maybe it's that.
America is shit right now. But watching this gives me hope that we can survive, pull out of this, and stop hating each other so much.

Google Doodle has a Halloween themed PAC MAN game up right now. It's for Halloween AND it celebrates the anniversary of Pac Man itself. It runs like ass and has some weird bugs but it's also delightful if you love retro games AND Halloween! It's filled w/surprises+has an end game state too! :)
