My 12yr old nephew now has one of the beds on my allotment after playing one and wanting to give it a go for real. I don't know how long it will last π but I think that's pretty cool
Prodigiously proud of myself π first time I've grown carrots and tbh I'm just 100% dead chuffed Ive got any at all! #allotment #gardening
Despite all the bad days and mean people, I still believe in good days and kind people. Plus, there are always dogs.
Today's harvest. I'm really happy with the potatoes (these are from 3 plants). I've been picking strawberries for a while - they've been amazing this year. I'm high up in the peak district, so far more still to come from the plot in time π #allotment

I've got a water barrel I filled a few days ago, I'll give it another few days maybe, just to be sure. I was worrying as I'm sure I heard you can get algal bloom using tap water.

Advice needed! Wildlife pond filled with rainwater 1st Apr. It's not rained since, the water level is ~15cm lower than it should be, the pond is 50cm at its deepest. Loads of plants, including oxygenators. A frogs moved in already β€οΈ Q - should I top it up with tap water? #wildlifepond #allotment
Remote control.
Oh that's fantastic!! π Thank you!! It's the first time I've seen it and it caught me by surprise - i didn't expect them to find the pond so quickly! So I'm absolutely thrilled no matter what it is!!
Build it and they'll come!! Toad (?I think) in the pond at the allotment, only built it 1 month ago!! Am absolutely thrilled!! πΈ He/she's welcome to each and ever slug available!
I'm sat in a car park waiting for my parents to arrive back from an afternoon cream tea on a steam train. They're late because "the track embankment is on fire and the train driver and staff are trying to put it out". OK then π³

A chart showing global temperature change in the atmosphere and ocean from 1960 to 2024. It's clear that much of the atmosphere and the ocean have warmed significantly in recent decades.
This chart, included in the latest paper published by @edhawkins.org, makes clear just how quickly our planet is warming π§ͺ

Things are starting to get a little greener up at the allotment π± potatoes were a tiny bit frost damaged last night, just a few and at the tips where they touched the fleece. But all things considered, doing ok π #allotment

As usual, the Guardian closed comments on this before I could say so over there, so I'll say it here: this is really very good indeed. Thank you, Sheila Hancock.
