Wild how our media bought into the repackaging of body dysmorphia as 'looksmaxxing'.

Talk to any Risk Analyst in an insurance company and ask them whether they think climate change is a hoax.

IDK - I guess I am having trouble reconciling living in a world where people are debating whether Nazis were truly an evil force.

The Overton window has moved so far toward sociopathic ideals it makes my head spin.

'A storm every eight days' - country's biggest insurer calls for systemic response An increasing number of severe weather events were now happening in spring and summer, IAG says.

When insurance companies start pulling out of NZ, and people have to foot the cost themselves, maybe our government will act.

I feel like everyone would have benefit from learning about ethics and media literacy (pretty sure English at higher levels already covers this) in school.

This structure screams AI.

The first paragraph just sounds so impersonal while aiming for it sounding personal...

This structure, emotional hook, technical description is very commonly used in human interest AI writing.

Advertising with AI slop is one of the easiest ways to get me never to buy your product.

"Don't worry, our projections are that it's going to get worse as models improve, but it will seem more convincing each time"

Oh thanks, definitely understand the hype.

Trying to think of any other product or innovation that has a failure rate that high, that wasn't instantly ridiculed.

Selling the failure rate as a price to pay to me is just so bizarre.

IDK how AI keeps getting away with it.

It's like the sexpanther of computing.

60% of the time it works everytime.

Hallucinated citations are polluting the scientific literature. What can be done? Tens of thousands of publications from 2025 might include invalid references generated by AI, a Nature analysis suggests.

Isn't AI just great.

Wild how often one of the biggest problems for ADHD people in the workplace isn't getting work done (although it can be). It is more often leadership that is incongruent or incompetent, which becomes so grating that your productivity sinks.

Wondering how low AI bros will sink...

oh wait, asked and answered.

I feel like more drastic measures could be taken, because the "danger to yourself or others" criteria for a lot of more barbaric forms of mental health interventions seems to have been well and truly met.

"Heartmaxxing" "Deathmogging"

People can live without knowing they have heart murmurs or health issues that complicate and contradict stimulant medication.

There's a reason that medical professionals need to prescribe medication.

Short cuts can be lethal. Most times they will not be, but they can be.

This is especially risky if you are not on the lowest dose of the medication. Titration is important, and giving someone your adjusted dose can cause someone who may have benefit from medication to be scared away from it if their bodies process medications differently.

I understand why people do it, but there are so many safety issues around giving your meds to someone to try if you think they have ADHD.

If someone has a severe adverse reaction, you will be liable.

I haven't used Reels/TikTok etc except for about a month in 2020 during the pandemic, and it noticeably started degrading my memory.

I am very keen for more studies to take place on this, but I feel very strongly that engaging with this form of media specifically harms the brain.
