I was reminiscing today about the uproar that surrounded Judy Finnegan’s choice of bra colour. Can we go back to this level of scandal please?

As a fan of @mooseallain.bsky.social I was delighted to see this card in Waitrose tonight. Love it!

An image of a person with a pushchair down a residential street near inconsiderately parked cars. The person is wearing striped clothing and walking past a black car. The setting includes brick buildings and a view of houses on a hill in the background.

It's happening! 📢

On Tuesday, MPs will consider an amendment to enable local leaders to ban pavement parking in their area. We need you to help us get this amendment on to the Bill.

Ask your MP to agree to Amendment 265 when it's considered on Tuesday: https://bitly.livingstreets.org.uk/4tMU2Uq

Police regularly visit schools to tell children (from a position of unimaginable authority in the minds of young children) that if a driver kills them it will have been their fault. It's evil.

Could apply equally to most places in the UK too.

Kids have been safely running around playing for thousands of years. It's a normal and natural part of human development.

It's only in the last 150 years that adults have made it dangerous by driving cars where kids play.

It's drivers' responsibility to be safe.

A related point I like to make: The act of riding a bike is inherently very safe. The danger comes from cars.

Did they move?

If cyclists were permitted to paint-ball cars that drove within 1.5m of them you’d see a far greater reduction in close passes than you do by saying, “Please don’t terrify us or kill us.”

It’s a shame that some people are more protective of their vehicles than lives of other humans.

If you're middle-aged, fat, and you smoke and drink, who the fuck do you think is going to give you health insurance if your pal Farage gets in and demolishes the NHS?

One of the downsides of the better weather is having to close the bedroom window when the neighbour lights up a cigarette almost directly below it. Gross.

I had the joy of that today. Didn’t even mind the rain.

They always play the pedestrian safety card when it suits, but not when it’s a genuine concern. I get so tired of it.

Are they also trying to prevent pavement parking? If not, this is utterly ridiculous.

Hiring companies - your cycle to work scheme is no more than a greenwashing tax dodge unless you actually offer secure bike lockups and decent showering and changing areas too.

I’ve started putting a splash of Malibu in stout since enjoying a pint Gurt Rum Cask Coconut stout at the Cerne Abbas brewery. It’s as good as I can get with travelling down to Dorset.

I do like the hidden part! I’d not cope with people anymore!

Damn. I was hoping for some insight!

Ha, no. It’s just blood incubated in bottles which flag as positive when there’s a organism growing. Then we plate a drop of blood as normal. Just a bit scary due to potential sepsis. At this point I feel like I should never be trusted to do it solo.

Bugger. But I’m glad you still get a coffee fix. I carry a flask of it around with me too. I like the way I make it, and it’s cheaper!

The learning journey? A very bumpy road, and utterly terrifying. I’ve been put on blood cultures which is fascinating, but so much to learn about organisms and antibiotics. Then there’s the ancient computer system to navigate…

That sounds like a big ask! I’ve got so many things on my avoidance list due to my stubborn principles, so I’d not cope if I had to limit my vice of caffeine!

I hope it’s a short term medication x

On my bike, went to the gym, stopped by a local stationary shop on the way home to buy a thank you card, and then almost had my life taken from me by a person in a midsized SUV, blindly turning into my bike lane while distracted with their phone. Gave me the sorry 👋.

Motorist "oopsies" kill people.

I’ve been avoiding booze all week. It’s been a hard 5 days learning my new job while my trainers have been called away for meetings etc. Tonight I’m having a stout with Malibu. I recommend it to anyone who likes a stout.

I'm baffled by people who go to a bricks-and-mortar supermarket every week, but buy things like books online. Why would you not want to spend time in a nice little bookshop, but you're happy to go to an aircraft hanger on the arse-end of town full of baked beans?
