There are no technical or compliance reasons to double the size of symmetric keys in response to the threat of quantum computers.
This common misunderstanding of Grover's algorithm risks wasting limited resources that should go towards deploying actually urgent post-quantum algorithms.

Marie Sharp’s!! And don’t get Melinda’s, it’s an inferior rip off (they partnered with Marie Sharp and stole her recipes). My favorite flavors are the mango habanero and the smoky habanero (caution: it’s very smoky!!)

Screenshot of Bluesky settings showing how to enable “Require alt text before posting”
Great tip, just turned it on myself. For anybody else who sees this and wants to do the same, the setting is under Settings > Accessibility > Alt text > Require alt text before posting
For example, comprehension of narrative or fiction writing is roughly equivalent for reading and listening, but reading is better for material that benefits significantly from self-pacing, re-reading, and illustration, such as textbooks on technical topics, which jibes with my personal experience.
Some other relevant studies:

Recent meta-analysis: journals.sagepub.com/doi/abs/10.3...
Current understanding seems to be reading and listening are roughly equivalent, but there are some advantages to reading in certain contexts/conditions.

Today is a good day to pick up Micah's book. If you don't already have these skills, let me tell you they are going to be very useful in the near future.

great piece, @sarahjeong.bsky.social!
noticed a possible minor issue. in the nyc subway photo before/after the difference is either so subtle that i can’t spot it or the same “before” photo was accidentally used for both the “real” and “edited” photos
much better is to halve the avocado, then press on the back of the half with the pit to pop it out. might mush the avocado a little but much better than a trip to the ER!
they’re removing the pit by holding half an avocado in their hand, whacking the pit with the blade of a knife, then twisting to pop it out.
Similar subtle SQLite footgun is it allows primary key columns to be NULL, and NULL is distinct from all other values (including NULL) for the purpose of determining uniqueness of primary key values: sqlite.org/lang_createt....

But the deal cancels all stocks, leaving employees empty-handed.

Tesla's 71% drop in profit compared to last year is obviously bad, but it's even worse than that number suggests because the company sold *more* regulatory credits this quarter than Q1 2024.
If you take away the regulatory credits in both quarters the drop is actually 120% (into the red, to boot)
if they did this heavy-handed manipulation of how the platform worked in order to hurt Musk's critics, do you think they might have manipulated the platform in the run-up to the 2024 election, the election that Elon Musk said carried existential risk for him?
