I’ve attended several talks about AI in healthcare. They often speak about similar ethical issues… but I don’t hear them discuss the environmental impact of AI, which is obviously very relevant to health! #SOAPAM2025

There is no aborted fetus debris in the MMR vaccine, or in any vaccine at all.
It is worth noting that the Catholic Church, one of the most staunch anti-abortion organizations in the world, has a formal policy that encourages all vaccinations.
Heading to Portland this week to attend SOAP. Catch me moderating Breakout Room 6 on Sunday from 11:25-1:25

Congrats to Zosia Bielski, winner of the NNA for exploratory work for her nuanced exploration of Canadian laws that criminalize #HIV non-disclosure — and put Canada out of step with the rest of the developed world. www.theglobeandmail.com/canada/artic... via @nna-ccj.bsky.social @theglobeandmail.com
Would love to hear any styling suggestions for this style suit coat that my dad bought for my wedding. Especially shirt suggestions! @dieworkwear.bsky.social
Feeling pretty conflicted about following through with a previous commitment to be an abstract reviewer for a US based med org if they aren’t shouting from the rooftops against the onslaught of ignorant and hateful BS from the Orange Idiot.
3/ Will NEJM lose its international credibility? Should we all decide to submit to CJA or BJA instead of A&A? Will any of these peer reviewed journals make a public statement in defense of science? #MedSky #AnSky #MedEd
2/ Obviously, there are many more horrific, more alarming, and more urgent issues going on in the US (that will have global impacts). This is just something I, as a Canadian based physician & researcher (in DEI related fields), haven’t seen discussed yet.
1/ Will the absolute insanity happening in the US influence articles that American based medical journals will/won’t accept for publication? Is this the end of peer review there? What meaning will a journal’s impact factor have?
I’m curious about #nocebo in patients with significant trauma history. When building trust can be more precarious, do we risk losing it if we don’t warn the pt that it’s possible something could hurt? Has this been specifically studied? Thoughts? #AnSky #traumainformedcare #OBanes
How incredibly awful things are going to be. My heart breaks for those in the US who will suffer under this idiocracy. I had better see medical orgs speaking out & defending trans rights, women’s rights… honestly, human rights.
This is the year that I will work on becoming a great research supervisor. I’m supervising a resident & fellow (each got funding), last night got another resident to supervise for a new project. Exciting! #AnSky #MedEd
My brother has Mangalica cross pigs (I can’t remember the other breed). Two kept as farm pets - living the life these days. Rosemary & “Runty”. They LOVE belly rubs!
Stepped into the #PedsAnes realm to collaborate on this study with Drs @reece-nguyen.bsky.social, Remy Roque, & Merry Kreuger #AnSky #TransHealth #MedEd onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/...
#Sudan: faces one of the most devastating humanitarian crises that the world has seen for decades.
Population of Sudan ~48 million with almost half facing acute hunger needs.
Sudan has the world's largest displacement crisis with 20% of the population displaced. #TalkAboutSudan
A doctor’s letter to United Healthcare for denying nausea meds for a child on chemo
Me: “You can put your arm on the arm rest next to you if you’d like”
Pt, on OR table: *blindly fumbles around while staring straight up at the ceiling*
Me: 🫠
I swear I see this play out far more often than pts who will actually turn their head to look for the arm rest. Anyone else? #AnSky
When? Gotta use those gift cards!
I was never really super active there, either. But I definitely miss how it was when I first joined! It’s nice to have one social media account that I keep focused on medicine/work.
Very likely that I’ll be inconsistently active here, but just really would love to see a #MedEd #ObAnes #GlobalHealth community here, like there used to be on Twitter before it went to trash.
