I can’t find the video but I saw a youtube vid once that made a good argument for it being “what” as in “grandma, what big eyes you have”

“what praises we have heard of the prowess of the kings…”

or even “we have heard such praises of the prowess of the kings…”

This is a good statement but I don’t understand why people are reacting like it’s novel or unprecedented when you can literally search the catechism and find no. 2308 which says… the same thing

There’s a moral lesson there actually about forgiveness or some shit but I’m too angry to think about it right now.

One thing that drives me nuts about this moment is that there is no amount of consequence or judgement you can mete on these people that fully balances their evil. They’re doing a hundred thousand lifetimes worth of crimes and yet they only live for one where we can exact justice.

They were going to all of their appointments. And now their teachers, their peers at Burton Elementary, and Durham neighborhood are left missing them tremendously. Genesis, Denis and their parents were abducted without warning at a routine Charlotte immigration check-in on Monday.

will would be one of the most powerful block-listers of all time. not just by being a honeypot, but also because he would not use the list or block the people himself, and so he’d always get new awful people showing up that the nuclear block would otherwise take out

it’s vim, just install neovim, just use snacks bro. you’ve got to write lua, it’s on lazyvim. use blink, i’ve got noice, i use mason to manage my conform bro…

…and so on

neovim with lazyvim + claude managing my config in a git repository is actually a good UX

there’s a lot of overlap with the claude workflow of “that was hard; what if i got claude to make it not as hard next time”

imo the better argument to be nice to the robot is based on what it does to your own soul. being nice to the robot is sorta like being nice to the <insert animal you don’t think is a moral agent because it’s too dumb>

it makes me so mad that shortcuts are all GUI based but also i love the things i can do with them so much that i reach for them all the time

oh man i think my family got there just after this video. it was an awesome crowd. our girls loved seeing the frog.

this was our first “no kings” protest and it just felt really nice to see people who are fed up like we are. thanks and keep up the good work.

the thing about getting nazi tattoos is that it’s so easy to NOT get nazi tattoos that most of us manage to NOT get nazi tattoos without even thinking about it

it makes it really hard to get behind a dude who fucked that one thing up THAT bad

We used to be visited by Glinzi, the magical monster who would vomit electricity onto our grid and give us unlimited free energy. I will resurrect and enslave Glinzi to keep gas under one dollar a gallon.

Yeah I think it was a mistake to bring up Roy. He’s not really in the same category. What I meant using him as a comparison was sort of the same as your point: I voted for Roy but even he’s pushing it.

If it was a (R) Senator in NC or a corpse who reliably voted Dem I think we’d all pick the Dem.

There are 10 million people here, he’s the guy this time but he’s not the only one eligible for Senate in ‘32

Screenshot: Wikipedia page on US life expectancy. This image contains the row labeled NC from the first table on the page.

From the page:

The life expectancy at birth in each U.S. state and the District of Columbia from 2019 to 2021, according to the National Center for Health Statistics.

33 North Carolina
Overall: 77.6
Male: 75
Female: 80.1

Fair that one’s on me I literally pulled the first number I saw on Wikipedia. So it’s not his life expectancy and I was being dramatic.

But I don’t see any reason to play chicken with the specific number.

I was using life expectancy of 75, which he’ll be by January of ‘32, presumably the first time I’d have another chance to vote for him in a primary.

The crazy thing for me is I’ve gotten feedback that my code has suddenly gotten *easier* to review. It hurts a bit but I’ve got to admit Claude is straight up better at this than I am. Not to mention faster by ≥10x

And for that reason, if I get the chance to vote for anyone with Roy Cooper’s values (or left of them frankly) to replace him, and that person is less than the literal fucking male life expectancy age, I will do so gleefully.

I know for a fact if he croaks before we can fix our supreme court and state maps, the NC Leg will find a way to make the state farm bureau vice-chair or some shit responsible for filling vacancies

Our state auditor picks our election board because that’s the only fucking statewide office they won

Like, I say that as someone who just voted for Roy Cooper in the primary. He’s old!

I voted for him because I would eat nails to see Blorth Carolina happen and I think he’s the best shot at that…

But if he dies in office he will not be replaced by a Dem.

If we grant that Dems will have a big margin, the problem stands.

How many of those seats should we set aside for self-actualization of aging congresspeople, and how many should we save for other problems like voting majorities?

For me the trend has been more PRs per week and also slightly longer from conception to PR because I spend more time verifying the code before sharing it with coworkers.
