Progress in the garden is good this year.

A rare find, a dead-end and barely used section of canal. Great light on it too.

Springtime bliss 🌱
If the influencers are to be believed everyone has already disposed of their copy of Lightroom because of the DaVinci Resolve beta, but if you haven't, Adobe have just released some nice updates.
The Cannaregio area on the north side of Venice’s islands definitely feels like one of the more lived-in and less touristy areas - I think it was my favourite place to wander around.

Even dogs love the light in Venice - probably for different reasons than the photographers though.

I've had the MacBook Neo for almost a month at this point, in that time I've basically not touched my M4 iPad Pro and you know what, I've not really missed the iPad at all.
As soon as there's an OLED iPad mini I think that'll be the one for me, just for some reading and scrolling in bed.
I think the model providers will be bummed when a lot of businesses wont even pay that much.
There are a lot of video-first people who seem overly confident that Resolve getting a photo editing mode means that everyone is suddenly going to drop what they know and learn what "scopes" and "nodes" are.
One of the most interesting photography-related experiences I had in Venice was being handed an early-2010s Nikon compact by a couple of teenagers to take their photo.
I knew there was a trend for this but it was kind of cool to see teenagers running around without phones in their hands.
At some point I'll run out of photos from Venice to post but today is not that day.
View from the Rialto Bridge, better than the view of the Rialto Bridge.

Probably one of the most “classic” Venice views, the view from Ponte dell’Accademia.

At least it's a sustainable ecosystem of people paying AI companies to generate applications they can't sell to make money to pay for the AI tools they used because everyone can do the same 🙃.
Back on "Le Chat" already, I think I just prefer the UI to the competitors too.

I re-subscribed to Claude assuming the poor answers I was getting from Mistral sometimes were down to it being a worse model but TBH, the world-knowledge stuff in Claude seems just as bad, even using it to help with tech support issues is pretty meh a lot of the time.

Spring Sunset

This is bird-financed propaganda, they just want expensive mealworm not cheap seed, but I'll do my part nonetheless.
Sunset photo with dark trees on either side and a carpet of pink bluebells, some intentionally out of focus in the foreground. In the distance the sun is illuminating some new leaves on the trees and silhouetting the tree trunks.
Having a bluebell woodland within walking distance from my house is extremely nice. Lovely way to finish the day :)

The real taxis of Venice - they’re _a lot_ of fun if you get them to the airport and back so they can really open them up.

Invited by TfL to ride in the driver’s cab of a Bakerloo line train. For someone who spent 40 years in London, a quietly extraordinary thing. Long exposures on iPhone — working with the movement rather than against it.
Our garden is owned by the slugs and snails this year, there's no hope for it.
They may be expensive to take a trip on but you can’t say that they’re not beautifully crafted.
