And she often sent me to the corner shop to get 10 Park Drive for her - and a tube of Smarties for me.
For younger readers, Park Drive was a cigarette brand.
I would only be about seven!

Absolutely, Des.

I spent my early years in our pub surrounded by smoky pottery factories so a visit to nan’s in the suburbs was a treat as she had a small garden. There was a
rose bush by the back door which was full of flowers in the summer - I can see it now. And a rusty Anderson shelter too!

My nan(d 1980) had the same cooker and bloomers. I think her wallpaper was from the 40s/50s though, thankfully.

OMFG I had to go and check that this ACTUALLY happened.

Since when does the BBC ever do chyrons with a political party's branding, rather than their own? Not to mention this is during a pre-election campaign purdah.

This dog rescue had a slumber party night where volunteers got to sleep with a dog up for adoption!

This is the kind of place I’d donate my time and money to.

I have always felt total disgust for Farage when he and his supporters turned their backs on the European anthem ‘Ode to joy’.

Crikey! (Strong language, I know, but justified...)

The BBC are back to running a live feed on the old Starmer / Mandelson story.

Where's their live feed on whether Refukker Tice can survive his latest tax 'issue'?

The Press knew. They laughed.

The Tories knew. They didn’t care.

All I see now is hypocrisy.

Yesterday we had a journalist post on Threads to say the press doesn't like Labour and holds Labour to higher standards than other parties.

It confirms what we all knew and see every day.

But shocking that someone in the media bubble actually said it out loud!

When Angela Rayner underpaid £40,000 in stamp duty, Richard Tice said it was "morally completely indefensible” and she should resign if she had “any moral decency”.

Now we learn he set up four shell companies that let him avoid paying £100,000 he owed in tax and to then transfer the cash to Reform

The Times seems to be backing their man in the run up to the local elections. Chummy, unchallenging ‘interview’ that reads much more like a Farage advert.
Free passes handed out on his racism, misogyny, corruption, Trumpism, Orbanism, useless councils, dire candidates, failed Brexit…
Really shabby.

More than half of Britons support rejoining EU 10 years on from Brexit vote Experts say Labour’s ‘halfway house’ approach risks losing support from progressives and ‘red wall’ voters

Support for rejoining the EU rather than simply rejoining the single market is growing among British voters, with more than 80% of Labour, Liberal Democrat and Green party supporters favouring this option, according to research mapping voter attitudes 10 years after the Brexit referendum.

THIS IS SO IMPORTANT.

Farage says a woman who has been here for years, is married to a British person and has indefinite leave to remain, will need to apply for a work visa after they abolish indefinite leave to remain.

The Brexit delusion is dead – so now Keir Starmer doesn’t need to pretend any more | Rafael Behr To rebuild relations with Europe in a dangerous world, the prime minister needs to win big arguments, not hide behind outdated red lines, says Guardian columnist Rafael Behr

Brexit is an unpopular shitshow, global politics and priorities have changed and there’s now a majority of voters who’ve been resolutely scorned since the Brexit vote.
I dunno. Maybe tap into that demographic and see how you go. Or keep losing to Reform.
