Excellent but heartbreaking report on how the illegal decision to implement Trump's insane budget by NASA HQ and GSFC management crippled NASA's science effort, with AXIS as a prime example:

It only requires a handful of republicans in congress to bring an end to the reign of this genocidal maniac
“Reasonable people can disagree on what should be done to limit the effects of climate change,” writes Kate Marvel, who last month quit her job at NASA researching the present and future of Earth’s climate. “But rather than debate policy, the administration has chosen to attack science itself.”
Congressman Nathaniel Moran @RepNateMoran ••• The United States of America must always be prepared to use overwhelming military force when necessary to defend our national security interests and protect Americans at home and abroad. And, a President should have the latitude to make decisions to that end, but only to the extent that those decisions are also consistent with the inherent authority of a Commander-in-Chief under the U. S. Constitution and the provisions of the War Powers Resolution. To date, I have supported the President's decisions relating to the Iranian conflict because they were consistent with these authorities and the ultimate goal of protecting national security interests. At the same time, what sets America apart is not only our strength, but how we use it. Our nation has always conducted military operations for just causes and through just and moral means. This must continue in the future; otherwise we forfeit our legitimacy to lead the world. So, let me be clear: I do not support the destruction of a "whole civilization." That is not who we are, and it is not consistent with the principles that have long guided America. I have and will continue to support a strong national defense—one that is focused, disciplined, and firmly rooted in protecting the safety and security of the American people. But, how we protect the lives of the innocent is just as important as how we engage the enemy. America is great because America is good. 2:38 PM • Apr 7, 2026 • 1.3M Views
Moran is a Republican congressman from TX, this seems like a big deal
Here’s a thought - if “This type of rhetoric is an affront to the ideals our nation has sought to uphold and promote around the world for nearly 250” how about switching parties and ending this Trump nonsense?

Donald Trump must be removed from office for threatening war crimes and genocide.
Speaker Johnson: bring the House back into session.
Invoking the 25th Amendment and impeachment must be on the table, but Congress should also move on a War Powers resolution to stop Trump.
Trump woke up this morning threatening genocide against a country of 90 million people.
We should be back in DC RIGHT NOW to stop this deranged madman from blowing up the world. Does this seem urgent to you, Speaker Johnson? How can you sleep at night??
Who's going to stop this genocidal maniac? where are the sane Republican leaders? aren't there any?
It would take only a handful of Republicans to step onto the right side of history and stop this madness. They would be remembered well. It's right there for the taking.
Donald Trump is so breathtakingly stupid he is currently whining about the Strait of Hormuz being blocked, a situation he could have easily made irrelevant had he not idiotically fought against renewable energy here in the United States.

The triumph of congestion pricing in New York City “offers a larger reminder: Government, done right, has immense power to improve people’s lives,” the editorial board writes.
Since 1994, immigrants have paid more in taxes than they receive in benefits every year.
Do not believe the lies you hear about immigrants.
They are good for society and the economy.
"Who knows better about surprise than Japan? Why didn't you tell me about Pearl Harbor?"
Trump responds to a reporter's question about why the U.S. didn't alert allies before initial strikes on Iran in a meeting with Japan's PM.

Just awful. AXIS would have provided the next step in the study of the high-energy universe. How stupid of NASA management to actively implement Trump's insane NASA budget cuts, which were eventually forestalled anyway in a burst of sanity by congress. Lots of eggs broken for no reason
"If the United States relies less on oil, it can care less about the Persian Gulf," Rosemary Kelanic writes. "That would be one more reason to bring home the tens of thousands of U.S. troops stationed there."
