Had to visit a garage on the east of the island yesterday, and while there news came through of a wader fest at RSPB Brading Marshes - Little Ringed Plover, Ruff and Common Sandpiper.
Dashed over and managed to see all three. Takes us over the 100 for our island year list.

Thanks Dave. Living on the IOW it is a struggle to get to Acres Down early enough. So today's sighting (08.40 ish) was fortuitous, especially as other birders present said it had been there much earlier!
Fifth attempt at Acres Down to try and spot a Lesser Spotted Woodpecker. Success, and we were rewarded with at least ten minutes of great views.
The video is not great - taken on a phone.

Just back from a day on the mainland, in the New Forest at Acres Down. No joy at the Woodpecker tree, but had a real bonus of Goshawk flying overhead at one point.
Also had Woodlark soaring and in full song - absolutely beautiful and a real treat as we don't get them often on the IOW.
Last Wednesday there was a sighting of two Bearded Tits - male and female on west wight. This was the first sighting here for quite a few years.
Went yesterday to the location and could clearly hear their 'pinging' call, but no sightings unfortunately.
Fingers crossed that this pair stay and breed.
Went to see the Long-tailed Duck on Fishtail Lagoon, Keyhaven Marshes - it was showing well from the footpath. However a huge bonus was coming across two Bearded Tit's (male and female) in the reeds adjacent to the Lagoon.
Red-necked Grebe at Bembridge Harbour this morning brings my Isle of Wight year list to 155. Pleased with this as my 2023 island list was 152.
