I'll take the over
So you're telling me that when I watch skit comedy I'm not slacking off, I'm actually looking for innovative research ideas? This is excellent news (along with this paper being accepted for publication, of course).
We’re defending Western Civilization by kicking Plato and Shakespeare out of university classes.
NY Times dramatically overestimating how much social science professors are paid
I am once again asking people to stop reading the NY Times
I get pushback from people for this take, but this is a prime example of why we need to pay public officials more. Being a democratically elected representative of the people's will is a challenging job! We should incentive people to take it on for reasons other than personal power and corruption.
Some US institutions will need to be rethought and rebuilt. Others need to be allowed to collapse into the sea, with the wreckage serving as a warning for future generations. The New York Times falls in the latter camp.

Magyar: “No mercy, they will need to take responsibility for all their actions.”
holy shit he actually conceded
folks, they tell you they’re invincible
they tell you they’re inevitable
they tell you that you should give up and stop fighting

A powerful man sexually pursuing a young woman who works for him is oppressive. It immediately limits and reshapes her future to her detriment, whether she is physically forced into it or not. It’s coercion either way, and that is why it’s so wrong. It’s an abuse of power.
“Democrats shouldn’t do things that might be used by Republicans to unfairly justify doing bad things,” very quickly collapses to, “Democrats shouldn’t do things.”
Clinging to norms isn’t going to get Trump to follow norms, or convince swing voters to care for norms. See, every election since 2016.
Example number whatever of why we need the Voting Rights Act!
Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz made an unannounced visit to the Everglades concentration camp where she describes the inhumane conditions she witnessed.
The 28th Virginia battle flag is a Confederate battle flag that belonged to the 28th Virginia Infantry Regiment. Captured by the 1st Minnesota Infantry Regiment at the Battle of Gettysburg, the flag was brought to Minnesota and exhibited at the state's capitol for several years before passing into the permanent collection of the Minnesota Historical Society after 1896 where it has remained since.
Happy Confederate Surrender Day from Minnesota where we still have your goddamn flag and we’re not giving it up.

Armageddon is terrible, but our only other option was diversity trainings at work.
In an age of creeping relativism, a universal moral law still exists.
Threatening to end an entire civilization of 90 million people in order to bend a nation’s conduct to your will is grossly morally wrong. It is evil. And we should say this loudly.
This is so, so well-articulated.
the historical autopsy of why the New York Times, specifically, decided to try and incite pogroms against a tiny minority in the first quarter of the 21st century will be wild
1. The largest medical organization in the United States, the American Medical Association, has reaffirmed that gender affirming care for trans youth is medically necessary.
It disavowed the New York Times reporting.
Incredible development for trans youth.

A reminder that you should want universal voting in a democracy irrespective of whether your side is suddenly benefiting or losing due to restrictions and disenfranchisement.
who among us, during the Presidency of George W Bush, could’ve guessed that issues like the Voting Rights Act, abortion rights, and Presidential war powers would’ve been hot button issues in 20 years

America's status as the top destination for global talent is being shattered.
The Administration only just published (!) what happened last summer to international student visa issuances. It's grim.

my life has certainly improved since I started ordering oat milk lattes with my fiancée!
I kid you not, "is the simultaneous rise of loneliness and specialty coffee orders more likely to be an example of a causal relationship or a spurious correlation?" is going to be a question on my econometrics final exam.
They had names. They had beautiful faces. And they had the same dreams as your kids - crushed when American "precision" bombs slammed into their Minab elementary school, killing 175
Don't blame AI for this. Blame the sick humans who see war as a game

Moderate Democrats with columns in newspapers are constantly saying the Democratic Party is way too liberal on "social" issues. Moderate Democratic voters in real life do not feel this way. With some polling data from @gelliottmorris.com and @dataforprogress.org. newrepublic.com/article/2074...
