I just called someone I hadn't talked to in 7-8 years and he was excited to talk, gave me advice, and told me his services weren't best for me. People remember those who treat them with kindness and respect. The world is small and it's not a zero-sum game. We can succeed together.

I've given a lot of career advice over the years but the #1 remains: "Be someone people want to work with (again)"

Don't forget that the lobbying by TurboTax and Intuit is a big reason we don't have easy online filing from the government.

What I'm seeing increasingly is that companies are giving some teams nails and some teams screws and then getting pissed when not everyone uses the same screwdriver.

Punishing an employee (context: software development) for not using a specific tool is an incompetent management take. It's the managers' responsibility to set quality and performance expectations and metrics, and hold employees accountable for that.

One thing to consider based upon the laptop and Linux version, some desktops still struggle with mixed screen resolution (HD on one screen, 4k on the other). Fix should be generally available by the end of the year 🤞🏻

I run Linux Mint and had no problem using Fantasy Grounds when Tony was running Star Trek for us.

I've been running Linux on Think Pads since they were IBM and it works very well. No specific complaints and I basically don't even consider other laptop brands at this point.
