I'm 8.5 years into dad mode and its the most rewarding but also hardest balancing act ever. There's existential "dad alertness" that has had me on edge and fucked up my sleep since day 1.
That said those infant stages are the hardest, its gonna get easier as he gets older and routines/sleep forms.
